Another rappard-related SY release!

Unfortunately this one isn't band-approved:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=300144409577&ssPa geName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=020

Oddly flattering and disgusting at the same time. It has to be my recording - no other from State-X has surfaced, so I assume I was the only taper there.

And I thought they didn't even make silver bootlegs anymore - last time I was at Camden Market, everything was on CD-R.

Thanks to SkinnyPaul for sending me the link.

Martin Tha Filthy Bootlegger

I'd want to disassociate myself from that simply because of the awful cover.

nicfit 08.24.2007 03:33 AM

Damn, is there a way to "report" that as a bad item/auction or something? like we can do with "bad posts" here?

That's said, what's your cut on the final price, martin? :D ;)

Same here - I've seen better mobile phone pics. :D

I already emailed eBay, but they're notoriously unwilling to do anything about bootlegs. Usually they only get their fat behinds moving when a record company contacts them. Such a lovely non-litigious society, wouldn't you agree?

And my cut was enough to send a sharp shiny new razor to Italy soon - watch your mailbox! :D

You mean my recording, or the bootleg? If you've heard the latter, how does it sound compared to my original dimeadozen.org seed?

And why your ridiculously large sig?

scott v 08.24.2007 01:09 PM

Oddly enough i saw this exact thing at the little local record store, the only guy really left in my area who has a storefront that sells old and out of print/used vinyl and he carries some cds as well and some of them are bootlegs... well he had this particular boot, and i looked at the whole thing, the info on the ebay auction is correct, not sure how legit that label is or some sort of made up thing but it is not a true silver cd!!! its one of those SILVER CDRS! and they were creative enough to print an ink label professional looking enough to trick the casual person. as there are obvious clues about cdrs... it doesn't have the inner markings (like mastering info our etched numbers like on alot of official and massed produced cds) it has a stamped black number on the non-silver portion of the inner part of the actual plastic which is a giveaway that its a cdr!!! i listened to it but didn't buy it, its of decent quality not soundboard but a good audience recording (not great as i remember the vocals and one guitar is abit buried in the mix). the inner photos are back cover photos are better than what is shown in the auction, but not much better. looks similar to those classic boots from the 90's...

nicfit 08.24.2007 06:43 PM

where's atari's post???

Danny Himself 08.24.2007 06:46 PM

He deletes a lot of his posts. Blink and you'll miss them.

nicfit 08.24.2007 06:47 PM

Blink might well be my least favourite SY song. ha!

_tunic_ 08.25.2007 07:22 AM

price is already at US $21,50

nicfit 08.25.2007 09:58 AM

what about making a fake ebay id named after a link to follow to get the torrent or a link to a copy upped on sendspace or something , and bid 100$ so nobody will (well, should??) offer more and it will be shown on the page?? What would be the consequences?

A rift in the space/time continuum.

Sounds nice. Maybe I could end up seeing SY in the eighties thanks to some time warping.

Hey, I was at that gig. It was great!

I don't recall seeing anyone else recording that show either. I'm sure you were the only one Martin. It's this type of shit that ruins it for tappers like you. The cheek!

got a tip from a fellow Dime member:

Quote:

if the Dime mods can get the details of that seller's pc (IP number, name if poss) they will dump them off Dime.
Suggest you get in touch with the seller, ask a question and keep any e-mails you get from him. Act dumb and don't mention Dime to him/her
Pass any reply on to Dime mods (complete with header) plus details of the sale, and they will sort it out.

Sometimes just the threat of shopping them will get the sale stopped, but if you really want it sorted, say nothing to him, pass on details to the mods and they will ban the seller.

Not sure if it will work, but it's worth a try...

Huh? What's your point?

And what's with the ridiculously large Haile Selassie sig? Are you atari 2600 in another disguise?:D

atari 2600 08.26.2007 09:59 AM

What's up with your chronic complaints about large sigs? Turn 'em off if they bother you so. I know you can't possibly be on dial-up, so what's the huge problem?:D

Look, my copy of Hague '06 has clicks and pops all over it. I didn't write about this in the original torrent thread at dime out of respect. I merely made a silly comment using sonicl's words in this thread. It may just be my copy, yeah, but you and I both know that isn't very likely, hence, all of them have the clicks and the recording needs reseeding or possibly even remastering.

Yeah, I know you put in a lot of hard work and it's very much appreciated even though it may not seem like it from my comment. I've often in the past been a huge enthusiast of yours and every one of your recordings in the past has been exceptional except for this particular one. Also, your archive is tremendous and remarkable. So can we just drop the bullshit already? The best thing you could have done is not even bother replying to my ill-advised and admittedly smart-ass attempt at humor. And perhaps I should take my own advice above, save myself some strife, and just delete this post.

did that thing really close out at 41USD? wow.

Is it that you're deperately trying to find something to criticize?

- Two off-hand remarks about your sig constitute "chronic"? Dude, chill.:D And read http://www.electrical.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=27051, while you're at it.
- And why did you change your sig then, to something a lot smaller? :D
- And why the deletion of posts?

All ribbing aside, it sounds like you have a bad burn - could you send me the location of the major clicks and pops, so I can check my copy? When I originally seeded it I heard no complaints. Granted, I didn't check the transfer very carefully - only gave it a casual listen all the way through.

On the contrary, he posted this thread to sell the bootleg. Don't ever take a post rappard writes at face value. This thread is merely a smokescreen.

Dude, just stop lying and/or making up unprovable accusations:

Seller of the item (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=300144409577&ssPa geName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=020) was phlip67, based in the US.

And this is me: http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayIS...userid=rappard.

Well, looks like you smoked even more in your room.

Rappard, prove me you did not go around collecting budweiser steins from the eigthies and books about PA history and Topps cards just to make up a fake ebay id and after 9 years sell a sy boot!:D

seriously, atari, this is getting ridiculous. At least in that other thread you had some kind of argumentative thinking going on. Here your credibility is below 0 from every point of view.

****, you got me! Yes, I even acquired a US home and credit card so I can sell under *two* different eBay IDs from *two* different locations. But boy, flying back and forth sure adds up - that's why I have to sell so many bootlegs.:D

Or maybe you just have "minions" in the U.S. now. Look, you can't be trusted. You sell shows. For sale: SY FLAC hard drive
And, no, I'm not the mod, I'm just giving you fair warning to keep "for sale" messages off this board from now on.

jetengine 09.26.2007 03:03 PM

Frankly, I think so-called 'band-approved bootlegs' (not quite a paradox or oxymoron, but close) have been far more detrimental to fans and record collecting than what the old-fashioned 'unofficial' bootlegs have been.
