Does anyone want to take part in a forum fantasy football leauge? With just a week to go until the start of a new season it might all look exciting, but a few months in and a bit of pretend managerial action will help to maintain interest once we know that the usual teams will win everything again.

You need to go to the Premiership Fantasy Football page (http://fantasy.premierleague.com/), make a team up (it's fairly easy), then click to join a private league and enter the code 647602-118633 in the box. That should get you entry to the Sonic League, which I've just set up.

Simple.

I might... although I doubt that I can keep up with it on a weekly basis for a whole season. I haven't really followed the Premier League for the last 1-2 seasons either.

I was thinking about doing a SY board Champions League fantasy like they have on the UEFA website some time ago (when Rob Instigator started one about American Football), but I wasn't sure if that would take off.

When does the PL start?

The Premier League starts on Saturday.

There was a world cup one here, which went well.

This one is very easy to maintain - you only have fifteen players, and you can only change your team once per week or so anyway (there is a deadline each week), so even if some weeks are missed it's unlikely to be too costly over the course of a season.

That's a nice start. Since there are only 15 players per team, and you can only change once per week, it shouldn't take too much maintenance.

The eleven players you select for each week score points for how they do on the pitch in real life. You can do substitutions and transfers, but there's a deadline each matchweek for selecting your eleven.

Ahh I get it. Lucky for me I picked the best Liverpool players I could afford. And Shevchenko. Oh, and Danny Murphy because we have the same first name.

Sorry to tell you this, Danny, but the best Liverpool players you can afford will still be Liverpool players, and therefore RUBBISH!

We may not do as well as Chelsea, but at least we're not horrible people.

the world cup one went well and was a lot of fun indeed. i wasn't so sure whether a premier league one would be succesful but it looks like this one's going to do well also.
i'll probably have a team finished by saturday... 15 players i can deal with i'm sure. :)

Can we see the squads that our rivals have picked, or are they a secret? I've clicked on the team names, but all I can see are the kits.

I haven't registered yet, but I imagine that should be possible. It was definitely possible in that World Cup Yahoo one.

Maybe they're just secret until it starts?

That seems fair. I've just registered and I'm trying to get a team together now. I like how they're using colours to show which players are currently injured/doubtful, so that you won't have to follow all the latest football news yourself. Excellent. I hope Leroy Lita isn't seriously injured though as he was my "cheap" striker of choice until now. Or maybe I should just throw out Drogba and take Berbatov instead so that I have more money for another striker...

my strike force is pretty formidable actually. im proud of it! hopefully my gamble on cheap midfielders wont backfire!

I clicked on auto-complete, and recieved some pretty average players. I'm not sure if i can reselect my team now though. Anyway, ive got Alonso, Ljungberg, Defoe and Lehmann in goal, so it's not all bad, but my defence is shit!

I tried to pick a team packed with Taylors, Johnsons, Davises, Johns and Murphys only, but couldn't - too expensive it said. Silly me.

I always consider making a team of players with long hair.
