Morrissey on Madonna and fur...

" "I wouldn't be surprised if she [Madonna] made that African boy into a coat and wore him ... for 15 minutes, and then threw it away."

Classic, gotta love Morrissey!

k-krack 07.13.2007 02:44 AM

hahahahaha
But Morrissey is a twat. He refuses to come to any of Canada... on account of the seal hunt... 90% of Canadians (that isn't a correct statistic, but a guess) don't necessarily support it at all (I sure don't).

Norma J 07.13.2007 02:44 AM

HAHA. He's a good man.

Yeah, but it's his choice, he doesn't have to go anywhere he doesn't want to... You gotta respect the man for his beliefs, at least he's stuck too them for his whole life, unlike so many others...

The Usher 07.13.2007 02:54 AM

Some songs are good, some are bad, much like many other musicians who have been performing for as long...the difference is Morrissey's still fuckin cool!

The Usher 07.13.2007 02:57 AM

Ummm, He fuckin Morrissey man, that it!

pbradley 07.13.2007 02:57 AM

I'd rather bang Madonna in her prime over Morrissey in his prime. Guess who I side with...

I will disagree with this, sort of. The Smiths did no wrong. However, what I've heard of his solo career is crap... especially "Your Arsenal"... utter garbage.
He may have beliefs, he can be a vegan or vegetarian or whatever he wants... I'm vegetarian, I don't boycott my country. It's absurd that he thinks it fair to refuse playing here because of an ages-old government santioned hunt that is, I hate to say it, practically a necessity for the environment and economy. Though, it should DEFINITELY be practised MUCH more humanely. (At the time, it is a thouroughly DISGUSTING, inhumane, and above all primitive practise.)

Significantly less cool since "Your Arsenal," probably earlier, but I don't know much about his other stuff until his recent albums... The only real cool points he has are saved up cred. points from The Smiths...

cryptowonderdruginvogue 07.13.2007 03:01 AM

i'll never understand the hype behind the smiths/morrissey.

Hmmm, are you sure you actually believe what you're saying? you're a vegetarian who agrees with hunting, though you think it's disgusting...very odd.

Whatever dude. I can't be bothered to get into a hunting debate. The point was Morrissey said something funny about Madonna, who is quite clearly a vile person.

Morrissey rulz!

Norma J 07.13.2007 03:08 AM

Every thread turns into a Sway rant thread. And they all end as boring and as nonsensical as the next.

Washing Machine 07.13.2007 04:29 AM

Its difficult for Americans to get The Smiths, lots of his lyrical ideas and themes don't really relate if you're not British. I love Morrissey and The Smiths. Everyone go and buy his last record 'Ringleader of The Tomentors', its amazing.

sarramkrop 07.13.2007 04:36 AM

I have this promo cd by Black Dice, and on the press release there's a quote by Thurston Moore that says:' If Madonna stopped excercising, the world would be a better place'.

Oh and funny quote, The Usher. thanks.

demonrail666 07.13.2007 04:55 AM

For a period in the 80s, Madonna was a vital force in popular music. Since then she's had moments of greatness but nothing that could be described as genuinely significant. Not unlike Morrissey (or Sonic Youth), in a weird way.

ThePits 07.13.2007 06:03 AM

Just to give you an example of what a wonderful human being morrissey is, on his 2002 world tour, the money that should have gone to the crew as wages, he pocketed. One of the guys he knocked for his money was a tech called Phil Griggs. Phil had worked for him for 17 years. Morrissey also has nothing but contempt for his fans calling them all "ebayers". Morrissey is one bitter twisted individual who has nothing but disdain for the rest of the human race

What? So you're honestly saying that his crew didn't get paid? Very hard to believe, as if Morrissey himself pays them, surely the money for things like that isn't handelled by him, I personally find your story very hard to believe...

Long live Morrissey!

MellySingsDoom 07.13.2007 07:36 AM

You have to feel a bit sorry for the M - 20 years of a solo career, and still the question on many of his fan's minds is "When will you reform The Smiths?".

The Usher 07.13.2007 07:44 AM

I think most fans would agree that reforming The Smiths would be a very bad idea, there's no way Morrissey will ever do this...

Cardinal Rob 07.13.2007 08:14 AM

I'd like to take from swa(y)'s semi-logic of proving someone is a chronic moron by making every other post of this thread an attempt of doing so with the arguing skills of a socially deficient 11-year-old, but resulting in showing myself up by managing to bear all my intellectual flaws within around just 15 posts.

But I won't. I'm not a prickzoid.

davenotdead 07.13.2007 08:47 AM

i really like the self-titled Smiths...and I used to like morrissey as a person...until he had sex...he was def. cooler as a celibate celebrity...now he's just like every other aging musician/celeb/pseudo-activist/fat-bastard....bleh

Cardinal Rob 07.13.2007 08:52 AM

Morrissey's like a friend you hold casually and enjoy getting along with until he says one thing that triggers inside you an embarassing "Oh God, why? No... shut up!" notion. He's a great guy at times but don't associate him with "his type".

You can believe what you like, I was there. There were only two people who were paid. Both were paid 18 months after the tour finished by Jed Weizman of Sanctuary Records after they signed Morrissey

The tour itself was organised by Morrissey and a tour manager from the USA

Morrissey picked up £74,000 in the form of three cash deposits at the Brixton academy show from the promoters rep

That was money that should have gone on wages

Morrissey on the tour was also being chased by two process servers

One with a court order demanding £500,000 awarded to Mike Joyce, the other an order for £800,000 from the Inland Revenue

You might also want to ask yourself why he liquidated his assets in the USA and cannot reside in the UK

The guy is a real piece of work

fishmonkey 07.13.2007 05:55 PM

Morrissey is a legend, fur coats are sick. simply as.

ThePits 07.13.2007 06:11 PM

A shame like all legends he isnt dead then

atsonicpark 07.13.2007 06:19 PM

the smiths were great. with the smiths, you have an awesome rhythm section, one of the best guitar players EVER (who still probably hasn't been matched in the arpeggios department).. i mean, this dude was nuts.. have you heard this charming man (the self-titled version)? that was made of 11 different guitar tracks, some of them in different tunings and with different effects, and one separate guitar track that was johnny marr dropping knives on the strings!

morrissey was not a very good singer, but anyone that has tried to rip him off sounds embarassing, so therefor he must actually be a brilliant singer.. he sang all these embarassing lyrics but made them convincing.. truely a good dude. love him. the smiths rocked. louder than bombs is a great album. just great.

Alex's Trip 07.13.2007 06:58 PM

I like Madonna...

Oh wait we're just talking about Morrissey.

Hip Priest 07.14.2007 04:54 AM

It has been a sad demise, embrrassing and almost painful to watch.
