What do you order at the coffee house?
Are you an espresso counter latte-mocha kind of person? Or brewed coffee?
I invariably go for brewed coffee except around Christmas when I am inexplicably drawn to nutmeg-y, sugar-y mocha concoctions. |

lattes.
Or cafe au lait |

oh i hate that sugary shit. i'd rather be honest with myself and eat cookies, rather than have a pastry incorporated into the cup. when i was a coffee drinker i was a double espresso kind of guy, and when i smoked it was a double americano w/ half the water (last longer, for a couple of smokes). sometimes i'd add a little half and half but rarely sugar. |
I normally hate it, too. But like I say, for some reason I don't understand, I crave it around the winter holidays. I drink it like crazy for about three weeks, then stop.
I think it goes back to that bully in 2nd grade who told me about Santa Claus. |

oh. see, when november comes & the weather starts getting chilly, i begin to crave BACON. other times of the year i have little use for it. |
Like the people in line sometimes who've never been to a coffee place before... "I'll take a regular coffee." "Uh, sir, we have 10 choices of brewed coffee, ranging from dark to light, and we have an espresso bar where--" "No, no, just regular coffee, please."

i hate it when there is too many options, i just want regular normal coffee with no fuss or logo on the foam.

i have a problem with the way "regular" coffee is brewed in america. it's watery & lacks taste. HOWEVER i'll drink a "regular" coffee if it's a dark & smoky brew, like a french roast. yes. i do love dark roasts. light roasts have too much acidity & demand spoonfuls of sugar, and what's the fun of that syrupy goo? |
even the coffee in the airport is good in france. and you can smoke right out in the open in the airport.
|
The French live right.

I'm going for my coffee fix now. I may or may not be back, depending on how rough the homeless bunch is today out on the ped mall.

That's good. I tried my French out on a Parisian store clerk (and not the friendliest looking woman, either) to ask for the time, and got the nastiest look you can imagine.

I don't go to coffee shops really.
I'm a hardcore coffee fiend and that means I need mass quantities. beyond that, I'm way too cheap to spend $3 for something that I can normally just swivel around in my chair for (at work the pot is right behind me). I will only drink it black, and actually I prefer it to be a little cold so that I can SLAM it down. my level of tiredness in the morning is measured by how far I can drive before I start dreaming about my first cup. lately, I've been trying to not drink so much in the afternoon because by the time I'm off work I'm totally supersonic. |

Wow, nice day out there on the mall. I went to the Java House outlet in the Prairie Lights Book Store, a 3 block walk north down Dubuque St., under a clear blue sky, temp in the low 80s, humidity low, people looking fairly happy and normal eating lunch on the ped mall. Even saw a young kid leaving the record store with a new LP under his arm--this is a good omen, I think to myself.
At the coffee shop I order an Indian Monsooned somethingorother, a dark and rich coffee. Also an oatmeal raisin cookie. I browse the magazine racks, as I usuallly do, and buy nothing. Man, it's nice down here today. I'm going to miss this place. |
Black coffee, no sugar. AMT are my favourite coffee people - good price, great quality, fairtrade, nice staff.

Same here thank you. I can afford going to coffee houses very rarely though, but on those rare occasions I tend to choose something special. |
I work at one so don't pay for anything but just drink lots of coffee. I can whip up a mean cappuccino though. And this french teacher tells me I make the best frozen vanilla chai in town. It's a craft, people.
