haha nothing i just remembered of some gig of an italian group APN combo in my country. cool guys. they belong to that label. it's not punk group, it's "contemporary music". |
i've only watched "Amarcord" and I thought it was great. What do you recommend watching next?
|
Satyricon;)
|
i have only seen "la dolce vita", i saw it a few weeks ago, and again tonight. it is becoming one of my favourite films.
i am the organiser of our school's film club, and la dolce vita is going to be the first film we show. i'm making a poster for it right now. great thread. |

Almost all his films are great, so it's difficult to say...

La Dolce Vita, La Strada, 8 1/2, Amarcord, Satyricon... all great.
cant choose. |
The end of Cabiria always gets me choked up.
But, if I may quote the asshole in line in front of Woody in Annie Hall, he is a very "self-indulgent" director. This is most obvious in his later work, but even in his neo-realist period he didn't always cut as much as he should. As I look over the list, I really only dig three or four of his movies. As much as I appriciate the look of Sayricon, for example, I don't anticipate ever watching it again. And let's be honest--his ADR sucks the big one. When he had a tiny budget, fine. I can deal with it. But by 8 1/2, it's just amaturish. I don't mind slow movies. I love Bresson and Bergman. But Fellini is often not just slow--he's fucking BORING. |
