So the project got finished, finally. And handed in although the teachers didn't read anything i wrote, not even my evaluation. They just looked at it and gave me Distinction, Distinction, Merit. which is pretty good i guess. Although it doesn't reflect how hard i worked, but thats just something you have to get used to.

But now my work is being censored, i wanted to have a slide show of 20 photographs in the final end of year art show, and they told me, that would be fine up until this point (a week and a half until the show).
Now they've said i can't have a slide show, and that i have to go into college and print off a selection of my images to be decided by them, that will be shown at the college's art show.

censor? what?

maybe censor is not the right word, but they are picking the photographs that get shown on my behalf, i have no say even though its the students show and its my work.

have u tried complaining?

yeah, a lot, it doesn't work, they run the art college like a business, and we are the neglected customers. They hate us really.

well why dont u pick the pictures that you find the most important then go and kidnap the ones you didnt pick..

strange, but in the u.s. i think you'd have legal recourse.

maybe try combining all 20 slides into one piece. then submit 20 of the same thing. unless they get out the scissors, that should do the trick.

make as many prints as you can afford and at the show, put them everywhere.
they only say no because they think they can. if you just go ahead and show your work in a different way then youll either just piss em off, or maybe get respect off them. like when my friend was at some shitty music college and on the night of the show, they said at the last minute that they couldnt play. no time ,whatever. but they just went and plugged in when everyone was busy running round trying to sort out the next band.
they got a long song out before they were kicked off.
they got a lot of respect off everyone too for doing that.

well, i have to go in at some point today to show them all 20 photographs. I was thinking maybe i could convince them to let me have the slide show on a computer screen instead of projected onto a wall. Thats what i am going to ask for anyway.

Don't do the computer screen thing. It's not a good medium for displaying any type of picture, excpet holiday snaps. It'll look lazy. Trust me on this.

I know this is probably a bit ridiculous, but I'll suggest it anyway: Would your folks lend you the money to buy one from Argos, you use it for the show, and then you return it to Argos within 14 days for a refund? You're probably looking at about £200.

i doubt it, i have kinda lost interest now/given up caring. Whatever they do will be shit.

either, it would be better projected onto a wall, but i think just showing it on a computer screen is going to be all they will agree to.

if they let me do the slideshow i wont destroy it. thats what i want, but if they make me print their favourite images and show them, i might.

So i never went in on the friday they asked me to. They phoned me today (monday) and asked me what i wanted to do, i suggested the computer idea and they actually went for it!!!!
So tomorrow i have to go in a paint this box thing that it will sit on white. Then help them move the computer into the room and set it all up. Its not what i wanted, but at least it will still be a slideshow!!!

can you sabotage the thing, i mean let them decide and then change it at the last minute so that they have no choice?

i have to say that its very bad that they are deciding what you can show when its your own work. can you complain any higher?
