Have you ever seen anyone die?

Go!

LifeDistortion 05.11.2007 08:11 PM

I've never even been to a funeral, and I'm almost 30 years old.

HECKLER SPRAY 05.11.2007 08:12 PM

Do you mean a dead body or somebody who dies away ?

HECKLER SPRAY 05.11.2007 08:17 PM

For my part, I saw many deads at work...
First time you smell death, this odour stay in your nose and in your memory forever... Not pleasant.

pbradley 05.11.2007 08:17 PM

I've never seen anyone at the moment of passing away but I did visit my aunt at the hospital just a couple of days before she died from cancer.

RdTv 05.11.2007 08:18 PM

No, I haven't, but I bet theres nothing that makes you feel more alive.

Savage Clone 05.11.2007 08:20 PM

Twice.
Once was my wife's grandmother in a hospital room (very uncomfortable; I didn't know a lot of the family present and it was obviously a very emotional scene), and the second time was when I was behind a truck that hit a pedestrian. The truck had just started up from a full stop and was turning and hit a woman crossing the street, going less than 5 MPH. I didn't see the actual point of contact because I was immediately behind the truck; I just saw other people reacting to something. When I drove around the truck, I saw the woman lying in the street. A tiny trickle of blood came out of her nose, and suddenly became a river of blood running onto the street. I found out later that she had died.

against_the_grain 05.11.2007 09:07 PM

Yes I have.

I was holding my mother's hand when she passed.

20 years ago and it was like yesterday.

schizophrenicroom 05.11.2007 09:18 PM

Everyneurotic 05.11.2007 09:49 PM

You're either very lucky or very lonely.

something 05.11.2007 11:37 PM

i have

LifeDistortion 05.12.2007 01:58 AM

Well I have one living grandfather who I've never met who lives in South America, both my grandmothers have died, one like ten years ago who I knew for a number of years growing up, but she died in South America so I didn't go to her funeral, both my parents from my mom's side are dead, and I never went to thier funerals either. My grandfather from my mother's side died at like 50 years old, I don't even think I was born yet, and my grandmother from my mother's side died when I was less then five years old, and I never went to her funeral either. It is kind of sad in the extent that I never knew my grandparents very well.

king_buzzo 05.12.2007 02:06 AM

No! I've been to numerous funerals and death bed.

screamingskull 05.12.2007 03:12 AM

i have had a good friend die, but i didn't see it, and i have seen a dead body in a coffin.

Dead-Air 05.12.2007 03:37 AM

Never seen anyone die, though I've seen some pretty violent fights that might have led to it. I didn't stick around to see how it turned out.

Just a couple days ago, I walked from work to the bank past a funeral home, and happened by just as a body was being loaded in. Something about seeing the gurney with a body bag on it in broad daylight really tweaked me.

I was in my mid 30s when my first grandparent died, and that was the first funeral I went to, so far the only. Of course you can count on more all of the time.

Tokolosh 05.12.2007 03:57 AM

Yes. In the late 80's I did my 2 year military service, and took part in a dirty war in Africa.

king_buzzo 05.12.2007 03:58 AM

^Really? Did you kill people?

Tokolosh 05.12.2007 04:02 AM

No.

fishmonkey 05.12.2007 04:10 AM

yeah i have

my mother died when i was 8 from cancer, they set up a bed in our house to make her comfortable in the final few weeks.

also i saw a woman getting knocked off her bicycle by a truck and the truck went over her head. its was a busy day in Dublin and i was leaving work to get the train home when it happened. i wasnt the only person that saw it. it taught me a very valuable lesson about the value of life.

Danny Himself 05.12.2007 09:07 AM

The closest I have come to seeing somebody die is watching the start of Saving Private Ryan. Thank God.

Toxa 05.12.2007 09:42 AM

Yeah, I saw an old man falling down and passing out(maybe death?) and a guy lying on the ground after flying off 2 meters because of getting hit by a car.

floatingslowly 05.12.2007 10:44 AM

I've seen a few dead people, but I've only seen one person actually die.

I worked reception at a doctor's office for a few years. one day, an old lady died right in front of me.

she was sitting in a chair and just slumped over all of a sudden. she had had a sudden-death heart attack.

we cleared out the office and the paramedics came. they couldn't revive her, but somewhere between the office and the ER one of the paramedics stole her wedding ring.

finding nobody 05.12.2007 11:22 AM

I did. Last Saterday
I looked over to the street and I seen a big white truck slam on his brakes. He was trying to avoid hitting a guy on a motercycle, but didn't. He hit him, and I found later that night he died.
It didn't look that bad from where I was standing
