Nurse With Wound, Part One: NWW/Hafler Trio's "Hit Again" tape

http://shardsofbeauty.blogspot.com/2...nwwhafler.html
First in a series of rare NWW releases... this tape was originally put out as part of Staaltape's documentary series. It was reissued on CD at some point as "The Murray Fontana Orchestra Plays The Hafler Trio", but even that is long out of print. This is the original tape, not the CD.

Nurse With Wound, Part 2: Lumbs Sister LP

Breaking with tradition here and giving y'all a rare NWW LP. This was part of a 3LP box set along with Sol Invictus and Current 93. The C93 record has been reissued as the Horsey CD, but the NWW tracks are still out of print. Don't know about the Sol Invictus. On the Cerne label, which I think was from Germany.

Thanks for this. *Clicks to download*

Savage Clone 01.30.2007 06:39 PM

I have that 3 LP box, but great to get Lumb's Sister digitally for my headphones!

the ikara cult 01.30.2007 06:46 PM

whats the best Nurse with wound release to get (ie download) for a new listener?

Savage Clone 01.30.2007 06:51 PM

For newbies, I recommend:

Who Can I Turn To Stereo?
Stereo Wastelands
Spiral Insana
Alice The Goon

If you like massive tape-collage action, The Sylvie and Babs HiFi Companion is a good one.

Savage Clone 01.30.2007 06:53 PM

Oh, and....
If you don't like what you hear the first time you hear something by them, keep trying.
Their output varies wildly in style and sound, and can be groovy, abstract, abrasive, soothing, hilarious, melancholy or extremely dark by turns.

the ikara cult 01.30.2007 07:01 PM

id like something that is vaguely familiar in style and form to what i know. I downloaded Homotopy to Marie, and its just totally nuts to me.
thanks for the reccomendations, ill give em a look.

porkmarras 01.30.2007 07:07 PM

It's not for the ikara cult-weak of heart for sure but give it a try.Life-changing,if you ask me.I was not so much force-fed them by a friend but his regular weekly tapes made eventually love them.If it's not your kind of thing,it's not and fair enough.

Savage Clone 01.30.2007 07:08 PM

HTM is one I don't enjoy much myself, and I'm a huge fan.
Keep trying! The ones I posted are pretty accessible.

Sounds like Stockholm Syndrome to me (not Muse)

Savage Clone 02.04.2007 02:46 PM

Whoa.
Here is a great blog with some great NWW-related stuff.

I particularly recommend scrolling down and getting the LP "Belle De Jour" by Chrystal Belle Scrodd (Diana Rogerson of NWW heads this project, but everyone else is involved as well).
This is an all time favorite LP of mine, and I highly recommend this to newbies and old fans alike.

I also recommend the Yahowha 13 LP that is up on this page!

porkmarras 02.04.2007 02:54 PM

That is one mofo of a blog!I was gonna link you all up to it at one point but i figured out that by following the links to other blogs you'd find it.

Kick ass.
Thanks again!

porkmarras 02.04.2007 03:02 PM

You're welcome. On the other hand i'm loving the fact that Nurse With Wound are becoming a growing 'concern' on this forum. It makes for a refreshing change from the usual suspects(DinosaurbleedingJr etc...)

porkmarras 02.06.2007 09:00 AM

Cheers Nefeli.

Tokolosh 02.06.2007 09:33 AM

From what I can tell this is all Stapleton, both according to the site and my LP liner notes.

I assume you are talking about the NWW record, as the Sol Invictus and Current 93 LPs have Tony Wakeford and David Tibet on vocals respectively...

Savage Clone 03.07.2007 04:33 PM

Yeah, I don't know whose voice that is. Doesn't sound like Diana Rogerson though. Must be from the film.

Thanks for the 'Shards' tip.

Mutant Sounds is a great blog - he posted my 'New TG' cassettes. Strange tho - he asked me to become a contributor, I sent him a few things but I haven't heard back from him and he hasn't posted what I sent.

Something I said?

Savage Clone 03.08.2007 09:40 AM

Well, he does seem to post about 458 things per week. Perhaps you're just a little further back in the queue.

Katy 03.08.2007 10:32 PM

These links are fucking great. Thank you.

I'm gonna need another hard drive.

I had a brief problem with getting it to unzip. Got round it by right clicking the file and selecting 'Repair Archive' and then trying again.

Songs from Cam Archer's film 'Wild Tigers I Have Known'

Durtro Jnana are honoured and excited to announce the release of the soundtrack 'Songs from Cam Archer's film Wild Tigers I Have Known'. Andria Degens and Cam Archer have produced the album. The CD features songs and music selected by Cam, along with original sketches and photo stills from the film. The tracklisting is as follows:

Intro David Tibet
Summoning Nate Archer, Dan Kocher and Stephanie Volkmar
Without a Care Anders & Woods
Ocean + Bells Nate Archer
Locker Dream Nate Archer
The Night Knows Nothing At All Six Organs of Admittance*
Mighty Djuna Bel
High Stars Pantaleimon
To Live with the Lions Nate Archer
Rodeo's Room Nate Archer
A Soft Voice Whispers Nothing Current 93*
Idumea Pantaleimon*
Wild Tigers I Have Known Emily Jane White
Please note: * these tracks have been previously released.
From executive producer Gus Van Sant ('Elephant', 'Good Will Hunting', 'Drugstore Cowboy'), Wild Tigers I Have Known is a fearless portrait of the horror that is junior high school. The film is familiar to anyone who remembers junior high as a time of painful desire, confusion, adolescent longing and curiosity. The well-crafted story, beautifully photographed, draws us back into this moody world of teenage isolation, a world that, perhaps mistakenly, we think we moved past long ago.

The film was awarded official selection at the Sundance Film Festival in 2006 and was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award in 2007 for its cinematography. IFC Films released the film in cinemas across the USA in the spring of 2007 and the film is scheduled to have its national DVD release on July 10th. Further details will be posted regarding the release of the film in Europe.

Further info about the film: www.wildtigersfilm.com and www.camarcher.com

Available from Durtro now. £10 plus postage and packing and VAT where applicable. Also available from Jnana Records. This CD will not be available in the shops for another three months or so.

Love to you,

Andria Degens

I saw this short film on BBC4 tonight called "Whistle and i'll come", it was an adaptation of a story by MR James and it was very very good

When it finished i started listening to a Nurse With Wound album that i downloaded a while ago (just to give it a try) but hadnt liked. Its very odd, something about that programme made me want to pick up this thread id let down months ago.
Are Nurse With Wound and this kind of horror film imagery/mood linked in some way? It was bloody weird and intrigueing.
