Anyone in London went to this last week?

http://www.planbmag.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3942

i just read about this and strangely enough i haven't seen any threads or reports about it here... what an awesome lineup!
if anyone has recorded this and wants to trade for it, please let me know.

sonicl 05.02.2006 04:18 AM

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

Why did no-one tell me?????????

I actually feel sick to the stomach right now because I didn't know about this... but I remember thinking when Thurston did the radio 6 live thing that it would be just like him to do an impromptu gig somewhere in London en route to or from Paris.

Damn.

pokkeherrie 05.02.2006 04:25 AM

yes, i'm terribly sorry for bringing this topic on here. :(
i understand many people are going to be pissed off for missing it... and since nobody mentioned it here there have to be many people who missed it... bad idea to make such an awesome gig a secret show.

anyway, hopefully my recording of the moore/labrecque/moloney gig will bring some consolation. (it's coming)

toxic johnny 05.02.2006 04:29 AM

Hey no worries... I would rather know about it than not know... if that makes any sense.

It still hurts though!.

pokkeherrie 05.02.2006 04:35 AM

yes, but would you like to know about it this soon? ;)

i found out about missing a moore/winant/o'rourke gig several years after it happened. it didn't hurt that much anymore, but if i would have found out the week after it i know i would have been angry... but i had the same thoughts as you, it felt strange that thurston would just be in london for a 10 minute radio interview/session and nothing else.

anyway, we can always hope for something like this at atp in december.

toxic johnny 05.02.2006 04:48 AM

What annoys me the most is the fact that the majority people who did see it probably didn't really appreciate what they were witnessing... the Old Blue Last usually puts on the type of gig that is at the vacuously trendy end of the so called alternative London spectrum.

Or maybe I'm just getting a little bitter in my old age!.

But Hell yeah roll on ATP.

Moshe 05.02.2006 05:23 AM

is this the best line up ever or what?

Hi,

I wrote the above (and I'm glad people found it). Thurston played a 30 minute noise set with Indoor Eagle. I did attempt to record it with my iRiver but I've not yet fiddled with the recording. I'll happily post a link up here when I have but I can't guarantee much about the quality. :)

Cheers

if you could that would be great... i'd be really interested in hearing that, regardless of quality. thanks.

the gig was orgaanised by the great hipster tome that is vice magazine. they mention it briefly and have a couple of photos on their website, in the blog section.

TheoGB 05.11.2006 02:23 AM

Wow, that YouTube is cool!

Right, the entire 30 minute set is here:

Hope that works.

pokkeherrie 05.11.2006 06:09 AM

wow, thank you!

Toilet & Bowels 05.11.2006 07:21 AM

gay. why don't they publicise these things? another smack in the face to sonic youth fans (and come june we will be asked to swallow the greatest insult of all, Rather Ripped). i signed up to the old blue last mailing list as they frequently put on good secret shows, but they never send out any emails.

pokkeherrie 05.11.2006 07:25 AM

yes, it's pretty lame.

however the appearance of moloney and corsano must have been announced in advance. at least it was posted on the ecstatic peace site on april 21st.

TheoGB 05.11.2006 08:00 AM

I think it was a coincidental thing? Thurston was over to do the 6 Music intervew and I guess he just stuck around? Maybe not...certainly I was 'lucky' to be working late that day otherwise I'd have been home and not been inclined to leave when I heard the news.

porkmarras 01.10.2007 09:30 AM

I had missed this thread first time round. The Old Blue Last is a bit of an odd place for this sort of gig(it's more the home to indie nmeish kind of bands) and they do have a habit of advertizing things at the last minute.I accidentally stepped into it,once, and The Duke Spirit were playing upstairs for free.

So true!!!!

pokkeherrie 01.10.2007 09:58 AM

ah... tearing open old wounds? it's a shame none of the board regulars got to see this. damn you thurston.

hmm, the original link in the first post doesn't work anymore... for anyone wondering: it was about a secret gig in london by indoor eagle (lineup thurston moore/john moloney/chris corsano/ben chasny) that went unnoticed on this forum for over a week.

greenlight 01.10.2007 03:53 PM

didn't know about gig, and missed this thread somehow.
(ehrmm, any chance for reupload?)
