I'd marry Bill Murray

if he'd have me.

bill murray-thon

1st and 2nd ghostbusters
groundhog day
ed wood
royal tenenbaums
lost in translation
life aquatic
broken flowers

I know I know. He is getting on now. no need to post more recent pics and ruin my fantasty. But still. love.

The work he does has changed so much in style, but always great to watch.

ZEROpumpkins 03.14.2009 06:31 AM

Bill Murray kicks ass. Always does good stuff

Sonic Youth 37 03.14.2009 07:12 AM

Ghostbusters 1 & 2 were my favorite movies for about a decade.

You should carry on the marathon with Caddyshack and What About Bob?

phoenix 03.14.2009 07:24 AM

I was going to add more but thought maybe running past 16 hours might be a little silly. maybe it could be a two day event.

phoenix 03.14.2009 07:25 AM

those puppy eyes.

he wants me.

nicfit 03.14.2009 07:57 AM

Nice specimen.
You have my blessings.

atsonicpark 03.14.2009 07:59 AM

Royal Tenenbaums and Life Aquatic instead of Man Who Knew Too Little and What About Bob (or Scrooged!!!)? Also, as much as I love Ed Wood, he's in it, what, 2:30 minutes combined?

But yeah Murray is great.

phoenix 03.14.2009 08:18 AM

I'd rather sit there for another 4 hours and watch more than leave anything out from that list.

atsonicpark 03.14.2009 08:22 AM

See, watching Ed Wood is a bonus, because while you only get minimal Murray, you get tons of hot Depp time as well to make up for it. So, it all works out.

greedrex 03.14.2009 08:34 AM

great actor, yep.

Danny Himself 03.14.2009 08:53 AM

I loved him in the opening scene of The Darjeeling Limited- that classic Bill Murray disappointed look. Oh, and he's great with RZA and GZA in Coffee And Cigarettes too..

flophousefloozie 03.14.2009 09:58 AM

I love Bill, too! I don't find him attractive in any way, but I think that is part of why he is so... worthy of praise. He doesn't seem to care, and much less nowadays.

Three cheers for Bill!

floatingslowly 03.14.2009 11:04 AM

bill murray-thon < cusack-apalooza

just sayin'.

fugazifan 03.14.2009 12:08 PM

"Hitler!"

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 03.14.2009 12:14 PM

Floatingslowly- you suck

and make this your list:
1st and 2nd ghostbusters
groundhog day
Rushmore (seriously this is his best role in a Wes Anderson film)
ed wood
royal tenenbaums
Scrooged
Coffee and Cigarettes
lost in translation
Caddy Shack
life aquatic
Quick Change
broken flowers
The Man Who Knew Too Little
Kingpin
Stripes

floatingslowly 03.14.2009 01:15 PM

maybe if you sent him some fan mail, Bill will send you a xerox-copy of his nutsack. one can only hope. one can only hope.

ps: thanks for the sig, sparky, but way to get yr panties in a wad.

Toilet & Bowels 03.14.2009 01:24 PM

wasn't there some story from a few years back about him being abusive to his wife or something?

perv.

vulva 03.14.2009 02:38 PM

Divorce is through. If you can handle him being mildly raged, and won't be clumsy on stairs/get hit by door knobs you'll get on fine.

I'm honored to be in a sig.

But a Cusack-a-thon would have what, two and a half good movies? Grosse Point Blank, Better Off Dead, and High Fidelity (which is the half good movie.)

Then you'd have shit like Serendipity, Must Love Dogs, and Say Anything (which has a total of that one great scene and that's it)

Though I guess you could stretch it and do movies he has cameos in like Stand By Me and it would still be good. But nowhere near as good as a Merry Murraython.

davenotdead 03.14.2009 07:13 PM

Cusack is in Being John Malkovich. one of my fave movies ever

Oh shit yeah he is, that is a good movie. But it wouldn't put it over a Murray-thon for me.

Although a Newman-extravaganza would be quite possibly the best.

pbradley 03.15.2009 01:34 AM

Murray would just one-night-stand you. :(

Katy 03.15.2009 02:53 PM

Get in line.

pbradley 03.15.2009 02:56 PM

I love young couples who each adore older celebrities.

Someone should write a movie script of that.

floatingslowly 03.15.2009 04:41 PM

for the record, I never said I liked John Cusack more than Bill Murray.

:)

&
Pushing Tin
Roadside Prophets (his cameo is worth the inclusion)
The Grifters
Sixteen Candles

how long do you have to sit in front of a TV for a complete marathon series? Cusack-apalooza almost made me miss oHgr. a Bill Murray-a-thon would give you hemorrhoids.

I wanted to add both of these too!!

but again.. time :(

Sonic Youth 37 03.15.2009 06:18 PM

I'm in the middle of a mini Gene Wilder-a-thon right now. Young Frankenstein and now the Producers. Might follow it with Blazing Saddles. Also have Willy Wonka,Everything You Wanted to Know About Sex but were afraid to ask, Silver Streak, Stir Crazy, and Hear No Evil/See No Evil. but it's too late in the day for that.

Also, as much as I love Gene and Marty Feldman, I've never seen The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother or whatever it's called.

also have and cannot believe these have been left off;

Identity
Max
Run Away Jury
Bullets over Broadway
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil

I have all these on dvd, except for the grifters only VHS :( ...as well as most of his other films which I will not mention but do still watch for the perv factor(the sure thing, hot pursuit etc). I have a massive John Cusack fetish also,(he is like 6 foot 6... and only seems to get sexier with age......mmmmmmmm) but that is for a different thread.

Cusack-apalooza can be next week.

Sonic Youth 37 03.15.2009 06:20 PM

1408 was slightly more than meh, and I'm not afraid to admit I love Serendipity and not just for the Kate Beckinsale eye-candy.

I saw it in theaters. It needed more Sam Jackson...

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 03.15.2009 10:53 PM

Bullets Over Broadway was really good

deflinus 03.15.2009 11:12 PM

what about bob?

davenotdead 03.16.2009 12:11 AM

just for the record, Bill Murray is better.

but Cusack is nothing to sneeze ack.

also, I too love Serendipity for a rom-com. mostly for Beckinsale though

Johnny "Magic Fingers" 03.16.2009 06:37 AM

Bill Murray - yes...

This got me thinkin' about the other early SNL male cast - like Dan Akroyd, John Belushi and Chevy Chase - and how I grew up watching all their movies.

John Belushi was in two of my all time favourite films, 'Blues Brothers' and 'Animal House'. And the stuff I've seen of him from those old Saturday Night Live shows were awesome. Who knows what he would have come up with if it wasn't for the issue of being dead. However he loses points for having Jim Belushi as a brother.

Likewise, Dan Ackroyd rules for 'Blues Brothers', 'Ghostbusters' and even his cameo in 'Twilight Zone - the movie'. But ahem - 'Driving Miss Daisy?' 'My Girl??'....

As for Chevy Chase, I dunno... I suppose I still like the 'Fletch' series, but I've grown out of the 'Vacation' series. I think the last time I saw him was playing a murderer or rapist on one of the Law&Order franchises, SVU or CI or FCUK...

So yeah, on that basis - Bill Murray wins out for consistency. Shoulda got an Oscar for Lost in Translation.

On a personal note, if I did a luvvy-film-fest-worship for someone, if would have to be Clint. (Not Bronco Bill or the ones with the orangutang)

akprodr 03.16.2009 09:40 AM

Have you seen Bill Murray in person? He is not a handsome individual.

barnaclelapse 03.16.2009 10:14 AM

He looks to be in pretty decent shape.

I'd say he's aging quite well for a guy that was kind of weird looking to begin with.

Just about any of his films would be worth adding to a marathon of his work. Even his worst films generally feature good work from him.

floatingslowly 03.16.2009 10:38 AM

ima give y'all the aunt jemima treatment.
