What do you think of the draft being reinstated?

here is an article where a politician thinks the draft would have never led us to the war.

i read that when truman was president some railroad workers went on strike, throwing the country a curve ball and truman tried to get the workers drafted so he could legally force them back into work.

thought that was interesting.

If they reinstate the draft they better stop letting gays in the army so I can pull an Iggy Pop.

But in all seriousness, I think this would cause an uproar, among kids today.

Theres no way the draft will be reinstated.

When I was first supposed to go up for the draft, it was the biggest quarterly callup, and hopefully would be the last . It was late 1966. They needed 650,000 guys to sign the dotted line within 3 months; each was to serve for 2 years.

I had my hair cut very short. i looked great as a mamma's boy, my disguise was impeccable.

My idea was to queer out. So I went down to the station, down to Fort Wayne with my peer group. We all went down on a special bus line. We all did a mental test, and then we took physicals, starting at station one. Station one is where you take off your clothes down to your skivies, and then you're supposed to get in line for the next bullshit test. So, in my part of the room, I stripped off and didn't have any underwear, just bare naked - pretty clever plan, eh? I just whacked it a little bit and walked out with just the most enormous hard-on (11" x 1 3/4" at approximately a 94 degree angle), straight toward my place in line. I'd not gone four steps when a shout rang out: "Halt!" a sergeant approached. "Where's your UNDERWEAR?!!!"

So I got noticed right away. "Help me out man," I said. So they sent me to a rest station to collect myself. I then hyperventilated and ran down the hall, stopping just before I saw a medic - so I was really shaking - and he said, "what's wrong?" and I said, "I'm gay, man, I'm scared to be here with my clothes off around other men." So I went to the shrink, and he asked me questions like, "Wht does gay mean? What's a queen?" things like that. By this time I was really into it. He took me downstairs to the captain. I was almost in tears, I was so wrapped up in my role - lots of convulsions and tears. I started disgusting him and undermining his professional attitude, and he asked me to leave.

It only took me an hour and a half to evade the draft: all in a good day's work.

So static, do you think if there was a draft you, hayden, and porkie could help me come up with a similar plan to make me appear gay?

I'd have to make a plan to make myself NOT appear gay. It's fairly easy to appear gay.

I can't see why anyone in any profession would want to be lumbered with a load of staff who don't want to be there, or the logic in thinking that it might be a good idea.

Yeah, some people think I'm gay. Mostly because I'm weird and I don't have girlfriends all too often.

you know, if the policy is "dont ask, dont tell"

why dont you just tell them "im gay".

War is not for everyone, and I don't think our goverment should make anyone who doesn't willingly volunteer go to another country and be made to kill another human being, Vietnam did that, and look how many people came back emotionally, phyiscally, and mentally damaged. I have every respect for any soilder who willingly enlists in the armed forces, but to make ones who simply don't have the inner strength within them to deal with it, that's a hell of a lot to ask of.

Well, aren't there European countries that have a mandatory military duty for all males?

I would start with drafting those rich spoiled OC kids hanging at the block in orange and at hot topic.

I think only gay men should serve in the Army. Based on my interactions, they're smarter and tougher than most other American males, and often very conscientious. I'd rather trust the defence of my country to an Army of gay men than one full of redneck hillbillies.

If they bring back the draft I'll be looking for a place in Canada.

I hope I'm too old. Unfortunately, my son isn't.
