All the Television & Joy Division I've downloaded & sampled were poor audience quality, so I don't have any.

I've got these Patti Smith Group
5/28/75 WBAI-FM Studios FM sbd Free Music Store
8/11/79 CBGB NYC sbd x2 (this one seems to be a strong candidate, but I'll have to go & listen)
8/29/86 Amsterdam
1997 ARTE TV documentary vcd
7/03/04 Brixton Academy London
7/17/04 Cologne, Ger x2 sbd (this one is actually really good)

I have another one (somewhere) from Paris '01 or something that's an unreleased studio session.

Cantankerous 08.25.2006 08:10 PM

oh atari. thank you thank you thank you.

just the first two if it wouldn't be too much trouble, i'd like to know more about that doc though.

atari 2600 08.25.2006 08:12 PM

the documentary is great, but it's too much of a drag to share big videos with a file sharing service.

the '75 one is just Patti with Richard Sohl on piano and Ivan Kraal & Lenny Kaye on guitar; there's nobody drumming.

the '79 one has some great moments, but Patti's voice is a bit shot.

the Cologne '04 one is pretty damn nice, but without the drama & audience rapport of the '79 one.

Cantankerous 08.25.2006 08:19 PM

i understand.

atari 2600 08.25.2006 08:54 PM

the good news is that I found the 2 discs for the '79 one. Initially, I found the case, but wouldn't you know it?...only one cd in there. So naturally, when I finally found the other disc, I had looked through almost every live disc I have by the time it was recovered.

Seeder's SQ comments: Almost an "A", one of the best-sounding 70s Patti recordings. My favorite 70s Patti recording.

01 Glass Factory 13:34
02 Redondo Beach 4:20
03 Song For Jim Morrison 3:42
04 Kimberly 6:49
05 Dancing Barefoot 5:16
06 Space Monkey 5:13
07 Privilege 4:57

09 Cold Turkey 6:29
10 For Your Love 3:56
11 Revenge 5:56
Disc Two 59:08
01 Frederick 7:17
02 Seven Ways Of Going 7:08
03 Poppies 7:47
04 All Along The Watchtower 4:10
05 The Spider And The Fly 2:45
06 Rock And Roll Star 12:00
07 5-4-3-2-1 4:27
08 Twist And Shout 5:10
09 My Generation 8:20

It's a great setlist, but I don't know about this one though. I remember that My Generation which closes the show is a blistering version, but Patti is singing Redondo right now & she sounds kinda bad. Oh well, this Dancing Barefoot sounds better.

Here's the setlist for the Cologne '04 show. Less fiery maybe, but a more dynamic-sounding performance. Trampin' was a good tour & album for Patti Smith.

Cantankerous 08.25.2006 09:03 PM

oh thank you. you didn't have to do all that for me.

atari 2600 08.25.2006 09:09 PM

I needed to find that disc & put it back where it should go anyway...like most people, I just like to bitch sometimes. I didn't have to type those setlists in...I just searched for them & they were still online even though the torrents are now dead.

I'll do the '79 one. I'm doing disc 2 first & it should be a couple of hours or so.

At the end of Space Monkey with the "Oh, goodbye mama/I'll never do dishes again," lyric near the end, Patti blurts, "I don't mind doin' dishes at all...as long as my water pressure is good."

TheDom 08.25.2006 09:35 PM

Does anyone have a good, free wav to mp3/wma converter?

I ran out of blank discs and I don't want to keep uploading gigantic wav files.

TheDom 08.25.2006 09:59 PM

thats not working for me either, so I'm just gonna plug them into audacity and do it the long way.

atari 2600 08.25.2006 10:33 PM

That's strange that it didn't work.
If you're just trying to rip from a disc, Windows Media Player should do it.

TheDom 08.25.2006 10:38 PM

I just downloaded it, and I don't want badongo to split it into 3 parts again.

But I got it covered and it should be uploaded in like 3 minutes.

Cantankerous 08.25.2006 10:39 PM

you guys are nice. whoever wants hole boots i have a few.

Everyneurotic 08.25.2006 11:20 PM

atari: you can keep track of your badongo links by signing up to a free account. also, the paris 78 patti smith boot which i probably got from you is some tv appearances, a few live tracks and some outtakes.

i have joy division's peel sessions if anyone is interested, i have no concert boots though.

thanks a lot for the muddy waters and the vu, which i was going to ask for. i would love to hear those patti smiths you tracklisted, atari.

atari 2600 08.25.2006 11:25 PM

there's a couple of new patti smith group torrents at dime just today, but they are audience ones...this '01 nyc one claims to be a great audience-sourced & has a nice looking setlist...i might snatch that one...

Cantankerous 08.25.2006 11:25 PM

Cantankerous 08.25.2006 11:34 PM

atari 2600 08.25.2006 11:39 PM

that's okay, I can pass on those...

so far, disc two has a link...I don't know what possessed me to do this out-of-order...I wish Patti sang the Cold Turkey cover...

atari 2600 08.25.2006 11:54 PM

Nah, her version is not the Jagger/Richards The Spider & the Fly...it's a spaced-out little jam complete with acid jazz sax at the end.

Cantankerous 08.26.2006 12:11 AM

that doesn't sound like lenny to me. it is completely awful though.

I'd like that.

I've got one Black Dice 7" (Printed Paper) and the Black Dice/Animal Collective collaberation (Terrestial Tones I believe is the name of the band). If these aren't easily availlible and someone would like them, I'll up it.
Also, I've got a good bit of live Shellac (some of the dates are mmissing, though) if anyone's intrested.

sounds good to me!

Cantankerous 08.26.2006 01:53 PM

atari,

PSG disk one did not work for me.

atari 2600 08.26.2006 01:57 PM

well that just sucks, Cantankerous.

I just went & it did start downloading from the "level 3 network" thing...I didn't download it all. So the problem is after you download & unpack the rar?

No more rapidshare links for me.

Sorry, Everyneurotic, but BaDonGo is stupid with the split archives & rapidshares is equally sketched, whereas I've just never had a problem with megaupload. That's where I'll have to use to share links in the future, I think.

Cantankerous 08.26.2006 02:10 PM

it won't download at all.

Joy Division
Peel Sessions
1990, Strange Fruit

http://www.badongo.com/file/1295896

As requested, enjoy!

Atari: i also have problems downloading badonger files that are over 100mb, what i do is split them myself and upload each part at a time (like double albums, disc 1 goes first, then the second). if you want to use megaupload, well, do so, but then i'll probably request somebody to upload them again for me.

nomadicfollower 08.26.2006 02:50 PM

Again, more problems with Badongo. This is just a test (I'm pretty sure it didn't upload).

Edit: Not working.

well, again, I just tested it & it did download. You must download from the middle of the 3 links on that page...the "level 3" one that has a green dot inside the circle. nomadicfollower, you can't get much better than a Peel session, so rejoice! TheDom, you're approx. 5 hrs. away from a 3-disc Jimi link.
