Granted some of the songs are not good, but overall one of the best ''feel good'' albums so far this year.

i'm going to wait until i get the hospitals record and a few others to make a list. it won't be top thirty just top ten.

The year my old band was alive, we made about 5 or 6 songs.

the new sic alps, "u.s. ez" is out, and its amazing. only needed one listen to know i loved it. damn, these new siltbreeze records are just everything id want rock n roll to be.

I like that one, too, but it falls into the next 10 best albums for me. Their pinnacle of achievement thus far was that Description of the Harbor LP that was available on vinyl for the blink of an eye on Awesome Vistas. That came out late in 2007, though.

It actually got comped onto that Long Way Round to a Short Cut CD which includes all of their 7" material and an otherwise unavailable track in addition to that album. That's definitely worth picking up.

Not sure if any copies are still lingering anywhere, but another cool thing the Sic Alps did this year was a one-sided 7" with a cover of "United" by Throbbing Gristle. It came out on Important in a buncha different colors. Blank label, no sleeve...destined to become a cool little mystery record in decades to come. It's a pretty blissful cover of that song.

sic alps have a very hard to pin down sound. sometimes thier abrasive enough to be considered some sort of noise rock band, but thier songs generally coil up into well done arrangements, melodies, and hooks. noise pop i guess, but for some reason they sound like something more. they were destined to release something on siltbreeze.

i saw a show with lou and zorn in nyc last december. it was pretty great. lou is dressing too young though! haha.

Man, I bet that was wild. Laurie's the most active on the second track, Stone Two, and it's really, really, I think, great.

I'm not a huge fan of his anyway but I thought it was pretty decent, one of the better ones I've heard by him.

I saw prurient. It was very close to being the most boring noise shows I've ever seen. And then I remembered that nearly every noise show I've seen has been the most boring show I've seen.

Anyway. I came here to mention that that Extra Life record is the first one I've picked up off this board for ages that I actually enjoyed, rather than quite liked or hated (that USSR record). This is excepting a few things from the rarities/ world threads, which have contained some wonderful things.

I didn't know anyone could actually like HLLLYH, I thought this album was really TERRIBLE. I was actually embarassed when I heard it. I don't know, I think it's really really bad - and I love Terrorbird!

It's brilliant. Their best album by far. Really original, catchy, energetic, elegant songwriting. They've really come into their own.

Uh. Elegant songwriting? I found it coarse. Really. Some synths reminded me of this terrible french techno style, "tecktonik". I really can't get it
