what the hell was going on?

louder 12.03.2014 11:54 AM

new Cole album is good, definitely his best album to date. even though it still feels like a Cole album in terms of the sound and subject matter, he shows some real progression here.

Rae Sremmurd album drops January 5th. i'm looking forward to it because, well, i fucking love "No Flex Zone" and "No Type".

so foreverasskiss is banned huh? well damn. he was a good man, despite his alcoholic tendencies. hope he gets over whatever he's going through.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 12.04.2014 03:31 PM

He was a good.person but.too. often let drunken trolling.dominate.his posting.. years ago we.had.enough people here so.he wouldnt have been noticed but now its like farting in an art museum, everyone notices

Severian 12.04.2014 04:00 PM

I'm not speechless. I think Wayne is shirking blame a bit. He could have mentioned this a looooong time ago. If he is doing something "out there" then I'm sure the label is apprehensive, but they didn't stop him from releasing Rebirth. They didn't stop him from releasing IANAHB. Why would they get all market savvy on him now?

noisereductions 12.04.2014 04:02 PM

maybe cuz it's called Carter? Don't know. Very weird. He's been Cash Money forever. I mean Birdman was his "daddy" y'know? It's odd.

Severian 12.04.2014 04:03 PM

Oh, by the way, 36 Seasons is fuckin' incredible. Ghost hits another one out of the park, and it's definitely a lot more consistently badass than A Better Tomorrow.

Has anyone picked up the new Wu yet? Anyone at all?

noisereductions 12.04.2014 04:11 PM

I put the Wu and Ghost on my xmas list. But I'll prob check both on Spotify before xmas. I'm way more excited about the Ghostface (of course)

Well, I was way more excited about the Wu, and initially I saw the GHOSTFACE as a bonus, but also as yet another competitor against for the Wu-Tang Album as well as for the Kanye & Kendrick records I expected to be out by now but which I feel certain will not be out until 2015.

But Ghostface became my favorite solo Clan artist with 12 Reasons to die, and I gave up on pretending that Raekwon or any Wu member had a more prolofic and versatile solo career than Tony. And now that I've heard 36 Seasons (promo), an album that features no other Wu-Tang members, and as a result feels more like a GFK album than a Wu solo album, I think it's got more going for it than A Better Tomorrow does.

So now, I'm more excited about picking up an actual physical copy of 36 Seasons than I am about A Better Tomorrow. ABT has some major hiccups in it, despite the overall quality of the performances. And 36 Seasons is a stunningly poignant album that doesn't seem to inspire any doubts about the stylistic direction and whether or not it was

"BEST RAP ALBUM NOMINATION

The New Classic – Iggy Azalea
Because the Internet – Childish Gambino
Nobody’s Smiling – Common
The Marshall Mathers LP 2 – Eminem
Oxymoron – ScHoolboy Q
Blacc Hollywood – Wiz Khalifa"

hahahahaha literally all of them suck.

Rob Instigator 12.05.2014 02:15 PM

Azalea’s rose garden path to fame has been fertilized by the rotting corpses of white female rap not-quites — from Icy Blu to Misa, Tairrie B to Princess Superstar, Yeastie Girlz to Northern State, Lady Sovereign to Uffie, Kreayshawn to Kitty Pryde. For 30 years, the music business has churned for Iggy Azalea, seeking a savior where one did not exist, or was not allowed to. Being blonde and beautiful meant nothing. In fact, it was made to seem like a roadblock. Twelve years ago, Spin magazine published a story called “Not Bad for a White Girl” about this stalled quest. G. Beato’s piece reads like a shame spiral, with several women prostrating themselves before an arrogant industry, and that industry’s power brokers yawning at the absence of a viable “Feminem.”
