Indeed. Show went well. Did not sell anything, but got a lot of great feedback. Was asked for my card several times, and I got to meet a lot of local artists whose work I had followed online. Cool stuff.

Are you working from a photo?

yes.
what i gain from working from photos is that i play with the colors a lot using my imagination or smth. the pics usually dont have much info on the colors, they at the best, give me the tones.

 

 

A technique I use when painting from a photo is to look at the painting and the photo up side down. I find it helps to show what is out of place and lets things stand out that you may not have noticed otherwise. Or squint for a long time. Another favorite is to get out my mobile phone that has a camera on it and i look at the painting through the phone which again reveals things i wouldn't have noticed about the picture.my

This is a surfboard I painted for my best friend.
He cut one of his boards down and I made the comment that it was going to look like a finger so we decided to turn it into one!
This is the first time i have done something like it.

I love your abstract works as much as I love your more traditional ones because they remind me of x-rays of muscular movements I've never seen. Just the way I imagine they'd look like. You really are a talented painter Kelly, and you get better and better as time goes.

long time ago before i started painting, i remember saying i wanna learn how to paint pain. i think it was in one of my 'poems'.
some time later, you posted a picture and it was yes! thats how pain looks like.
wish i could find that pic now- damn!

I showed some pictures of your paintings to my eldest brother, who I am really close to, recently, and did so purposely because even though he's very sensitive you'll never see him cry in public and hardly lets himself go emotionally. He replied how much he loved your work and I know for a fact that tears must have been running down his eyes when he looked at your paintings just because of his choice of words on his reply. To me that was a result and further proof that you kick ass.
