Nefeli - the festival should most definitely be happening next year.

greenlight - thanks so much for the upload and the YouTube clips. I'll check those out at home tonight :)

Hey there, whofrost! :) What did you think of the Thurston Moore/Bill Nace/Chris Corsano set?

whorefrost 09.09.2008 07:17 AM

Fucking radical. The three of them were all on fire. My other major highlight was Byron Coley/Vampire Belt. Weirding Vessel were also great. A fun weekend all in all.

Skaters didn't actually play; James played solo as his colleague was unable to make the festival. I found the set underwhelming, it seemed many did but this was likely due to the fact that James was ill-equipped for a solo show, or so I am led to believe.
You must've caught them on an off night before man, I saw them at Subcurrent and ATP, the latter which was good, the former which was ecstatically life-affirming.
re: Skullflower, I don't think yr in the minority in thinking they sucked, a few of my pals arrived at the same conclusion. I quite enjoyed their set I have to admit. Wait'll I tell Muscletusk their set was commended over Skullflower's, they'll be totally chuffed!

Thanks for the review, Melly!

According to another board the Skullflower line up was Matthew Bower, Lee Stokoe, Stuart Dennison, Alex Binnie.

Iain 09.12.2008 08:51 AM

For the record I enjoyed Skullflower a fair bit. Moore/Corsano/Nace was good but pretty much as expected. I think my favourite things were Lionel Marchetti/Yoko Higashi, Dave Phillips/G*Park, Limpe Fuchs (except when she did singing), In Camera, Reines D'Angleterre (why has no-one mentioned this yet? I probably would have preferred Tazartes solo but this was, at times, amazing), Koichi Makigami, Aaron Dilloway (easily the best climax to any set all weekend), Vibracathedral Orchestra and Skaters.

Iain 09.12.2008 08:51 AM

Oh, and Charlie Draheim when he played his harmonica.

One day I'll be convinced Stu666 can talk in a language other than record covers, upload links and random outbursts of obscure Sonic Youth live bootlegs.... One day...
