Maybe you superstars can help me with this: which one was that tracker that featured mostly (only?) Nirvana and Nirvana-related stuff? I know it isn't called "nirvanatorrents" or anything obvious; its name was kinda generic, I think. I checked it out once and I'm pretty sure I got there via a link posted on this board, but I didn't bookmark it and now I can't find the damn thing. What I'm trying to get is the December 13, 1993 performance on DVD (MTV Live & Loud) - I remember watching it when it first aired and it blew my cotton socks off (only now I'm not that young and stupid and I'm positive I'll enjoy it even more). That program also featured a coupla tunes by The Breeders, who I believe opened the night (those two songs were included in a "TV appearances" compilation that was uploaded to Dime in 2006 and for which I just posted a request reseed). Anyway, I actually have located the Nirvana DVD on The Trader's Den and there are two versions of the rehearsals for that show on Zomb (apparently both are worth it, since they're completely different shots), but I'd still like to check out that Nirvana tracker in case there are more seeders, even more versions, or, uh, shiny pretty things of some sort. Thanks in advance.

The Soup Nazi 01.10.2010 06:28 PM

Dammit hipster, you're fuckin' golden. GOLDEN. Indeed, I'm getting what we could call the "main" DVD from The Trader's Den (I'm "Mint Condish" over there), and it looks like you're the one bringing home the highest amount of bacon at this point, so stay stuned; my client says I'll complete the download in a few hours or so. I haven't watched the recently released Live at Reading DVD, but by and large I believe Nirvana was getting better with each new record, so this December '93 show is closer to my cup of Earl Grey.

Certainly, I read the descriptions at livenirvana.com before jumping on these torrents. A kind cat responded to my reseed request for one of the rehearsal DVDs and now it's coming in pretty nicely:

Nirvana 1993-12-13 Pier 48 (MTV Live and Loud rehearsal), Seattle, WA, US [AUD] AMT #2 - VHS(1) > DVDR

However, I'm not having nearly the same fortune on the other one:

Nirvana 1993-12-13 Pier 48 (MTV Live And Loud Rehearsal), Seattle, WA, US [AMT] AMT #1 - VHS(2)>DVDR

where the "Send Reseed Request" button isn't available because there are two seeders, but the transfer speed is virtually nonexistent (less than 1kB/s). Obviously I can't ask the guys to take OFF so I can access the reseed request button - that would be rude even by my standards. Guess it's time to send a few PMs and see what sticks.

Thanks a TON for the thir13en-improved audio version! Does the SBD/AUD matrix you mention feature more songs (i.e. the ones not broadcast)? If it's so and you can upload it, swingin', especially since the only Nirvana take on "The Man Who Sold the World" I've heard is the one on Unplugged in NY.

I would assume onemoresolo.net and the Nirvana material on owlandbear.com are gone because the Courtney gang gave them some shit. Hole is nowhere to be seen on Dime's NAB list, though, so it's clearly not a "principles" sitch...

I'll need about 20GB of free space in my HD. You know how much I have left right now? 2.25GB. Means I'll have to spend the afternoon burning at least 5 data DVDs. This is getting unhealthy...

...But hey, many thanks!

TapeCity will cease to exist on March 31. Here's a list (almost complete, I think) of the nifty nuggets I've downloaded from that tracker, just in case someone here is interested in getting 'em while they're still alive (a number of them have made the rounds on other trackers, though). It goes without saying that, in light of releases like Keep an Eye on the Sky, the 2CD Legacy edish of Kind of Blue and the upcoming reissue of Exile on Main St., some of these aren't exactly kosher. Also, I haven't checked their current seeding activity. You've been warned ;).

Helen Mirren is the voice of 'Nica', while Sonny Rollins, TS Monk Jr, the Duchess of Devonshire, Quincy Jones, Lord Rothschild, Roy Haynes, Chico Hamilton and others appear as themselves".

I mention this one because it includes Roxy (with Eno, baby!) performing one of my very favorite songs EVER, not to mention Sparks doing "Beat the Clock". On Mind-Warp Pavilion:

Alex Chilton SXSW Tribute Concert, March 20, 2010 FLAC

As I'm sure you know, this was supposed to be a Big Star performance, but Alex died just a coupla days before. It became, then, a virtually improvised tribute show with Jody Stephens, Andy Hummel (!), Posies Auer and Stringfellow and whoever was able to get there on such short notice. Unfortunately, the satellite radio broadcast didn't feature all performers (Curt Kirkwood, M. Ward and The Watson Twins, just to name a few, are apparently nowhere to be found in this torrent), but since no audience recording has shown up in over two months I guess this could be the only document we'll get of this event, apart from the odd YouTube clip here and there.

By the way, since it comes from satellite radio it didn't fly with Dime, but thanks to a, let's say, coordinated effort between the uploader and yours truly it is now on MWP.

[EDIT: for some reason it says "May 15" over there (maybe that was the broadcast date), but the show took place on March 20.]

Forget every goddamn thing I typed above. This is NOT the SXSW show. It's a different event that took place at The Levitt Shell in Memphis on May 15. The F! Still worthy of downloading, though.
