Haha! To be honest, I actually read the books up to the start of a dance with dragons, and watched up to season 3. After that I was "yeah, I'm done with this now". It's just that not everyone else was done with it either. |

Yes. Finally, I’m up to speed on GoT, just before the last episode. Kinda wondering WTF is going to happen in that last episode. Feel like Ep. 5 was a pretty drastic heel turn that some folks aren’t going to be happy about, but it was visually goddamn incredible. |

I don’t want Jon to go. I like him. He’s thick and stupid but I love him, and he’s sharper than he used to be. I also don’t want harm to befall Tyrion — who, depending on what happens, might end up sitting on that chair made of swords if he doesn’t die. ;) I’d be OK with Dany’s death at this point. Hope Arya doesn’t save the day again. That would be lazy and boring. |

Revisit once the hype has died down. I think it’s worth it. |

khaleesi was always bananas, although they made it too heavy handed, and that does not make for the best drama. the FUCKING ABSURD moment is previously, when they behead her main girl missandei on the wall and she's standing right before the whole army and cersei does not bother turning her into a fucking pin cushion with all the scorpions and archers there! i mean... what da fuq was that scene... again not asking for moronic logic, but the show has been telling me "who are you gonna believe? this arbitrary story or your own lying eyes?" in retrospect, clegane bowl was also kinda funny with the darth vader face anyway, it's just teevee... |
Saw this posted in my dayjob's company slack and it's just too perfect.
It contains visual spoilers for anyone who hasn't Seen GoT S8E5 yet. There's no show audio, just Metallica. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCHlCiB98N4 |

and there was snoe making his idiot face :D (also i think the GoT spoilers ship with has sailed now) |
GoT, based off of the books, was deeply subversive television.
GoT based on D&D's TV Trope thick-shit skull minds is plain old TV. |
sure ain't no Sopranos, but I think way better than Assed Kingdom.
|
Quote:
It’s not plain old tv. There’s been some epic shit in the post-books seasons that shits a giant dragon shit all over Walking Dead or whatever the fuck. Obviously the writing isn’t what it was, but I’d argue that visually, some of the show’s best moments have been post-book. S8E3? I mean... FUCKIN’ WHOAH WHAT Then S8E5?! Fucking WHAT WHAT WHAT? Hiroshima in King’s Landing. It’s not like this kind of thing is a dime a dozen on tv or anywhere. |
Still not as good as the truly great dramas of the era, like Breaking Bad, The Leftovers, Handmaid’s Tale ... but pretty goddamn good.
|
lmao walking dead
walking turd more like anything is better than that ridiculous shit it’s not a good metric |

So good. |

LOL OK, fair.... I just couldn’t think of another long-running spectacle-type show to compare to. The fact that Walking Dead is probably GoT’s biggest competition in terms of sheer cultural influence probably says plenty about how the show stacks up to other things on TV (i.e. it annihilates them). We all agree it’s not at its best, but honestly it had NO RIGHT to continue to be even remotely good. The fact that it’s got some of the best and most cinematic sequences — and, indeed, entire episodes — on “TV” is really quite impressive, given the fact that everything after season 6 has been one big fat experiment in what the fuck to do when you’re adapting a series that the author can’t be arsed to complete. One look at the Battle of the Bastards, or the last minutes of season 7 (zombie, dragon, wall, OMG) or literally any episode from this season proves that more thought and time is still being put into this thing than most other shows get at their best. *shrug* If it is shorty, it’s GRRM’s fault. But it’s not. It’s just got a lot of Dunkirk-type moments now. Action sequences are top fuckin’ notch. |
keh?
... oh yeah well nobody here will disagree that it’s good spectacle that’ a given but zombies lmao... im zombied out tho someone please invent something else |
Gomorrah S4, first 2 minutes, the mayor is buried in the quarry.
Plus a LOT of attractive Italian women. ![]() Why did I marry a blondie Finn? |
finished veep season 3 last night
(i know, im so behind hahaha) |
some stuff that's been on the telly these weeks:
- Young Sheldon season 2 - Agents of Shield season 3, it's the best season so far. - Eurovision Song Contest. Oh My God, why is everybody singing out of tune on top of their lungs!? They should provide free earplugs!! The Dutch song is the favourite this year, which is a first since the seventies. But even that song is boring as fuck - NBA Playoffs!! Come on noone is watching this you US folks? Curry vs Curry. Who wins? Curry of course! Eastern finals will probably be more competitive than the Western, and Durant isn't even playing |
What We Do in the Shadows just keeps getting better. Last 2 episodes are comedy platinum.

AMAZING. I have not laughed that hard at a TV show since Always Sunny's heyday |

I actually do keep up with what's happening and I'm sure there are some great looking bits but eh. Reading the spoilers for the last few, and next, episodes made me think I've still no intention to watch it for a good while yet. As it stands there's too much watching Will and Grace. |

Just watched the Scott Tucker episode on Dirty Money. What a cunt rag that guy was. His attorney as well. Live how he was giving the "poor me" act cos his stuff was getting seized when his whole fortune was based on fucking people over like that . Poetic justice.

great show too, that whole thing === im on my last weekend of hbo (just subscribed for the goto month) and just checked out the first episode of “the leftovers” maybe it’s a good story but it feels very unpleasant hahaha. don’t feel like suffering right now so i’ll bank it for a future subscription. im sticking to veep season 4, young pope, and the thrones final game. |

Yeah, What We Do in the Shadows is GREAT. I had to slow down because I always want more more more. BARRY is also amazing, and I’d be going through some ATLANTA withdrawal without it (similar vibes, similar balance of hilarious and deadly serious, but, y'know, with white people in LA). Man. TEEVEEAMIRITE |
finished chapter 4 of the young pope and holy fuck i love this show
sure sure the cinematography—whatever, it’s a given i absolutely do know what the fuck is gonna happen next and no, not in the “ooh clever plot twist” cheezy way. it’s just that it’s original writing and written with great intelligence. damn! jude law is so great in it he doesn’t even look like jude law anymore. he looks like his character. a+++++++ — (also, rob hit the nail right in the head the other day with his categorization of “tropes tv” shows. i keep going back to that very good idea. this show has zero tropes, btw.) |
Quote:
I loved that. I love the “theme” music they play for Law’s character (which is a track by Recondite, by the way). Diane Keaton... yeah. It’s great, and I’m SICK of waiting for the sequel series, which was supposed to be out by now. :( |
***YOUNG POPE SPOILERS***

Look forward to talking more when you finish it. I agree that it's something you have to pay attention to. No mobile phone browsing and the like. |
