I'm watching Heavy Metal right now - it's been years.
The soundtrack is fascinating. I love the Devo songs.

not a "major" movie for me but still a great piece-- dreams & more dreams!

wish there were some good screen caps out there. some awesome shit.

Straw Dogs

Only got about 40 minutes through it. I hated every single person in this movie, every scene, every stupid ignorant dumbshit charatcer acting as stupid as possible so as top set up otherwise avoidable violence. I fucking cannot stand movies like this. Just me I guess.

Also Delirious

Again, got about 40 minutes in and my girlfriend and I looked at each other and figured there were better ways to spend a sunday evening, so I turned the boring shit off and started drawing.

That is a new record for me. two movies stopped midway cuz I just could nto stand their SUCK.

atsonicpark 07.14.2008 08:54 AM

yeah i hate straw dogs. It doesn't go anywhere or do anything. What a disappointment.

it's probably my favourite movie, I have a great fondness for this masterpiece by darren aronofsky. good duo by rachel weisz + hugh jackman. and this unique style. 10/10

What do you think about it ?

Rob Instigator 07.14.2008 03:22 PM

I have not seen that movie. I will rent it and check it out/

Dr. Eugene Felikson 07.14.2008 03:41 PM

I get it, Mr. Waters. Hollywood is shit and so are pretentious cult cinema elitists. Sadly, so is this droningly embarassing film. I expected a lot more out of this, a serious let down...

D+

Rob Instigator 07.14.2008 03:43 PM

yes, I too was bored shitless by that movie.

EMMAh 07.15.2008 05:41 PM

I watched Planet Terror last night, it was pretty damn random in some spots but overall a really good movie. I'd buy it and watch it again.

Today I watched Big Fish, which is very cute. Tim Burton :D

I just bought that today, I've been trying to hunt it down for ages.

EMMAh 07.15.2008 05:58 PM

Is it hard to find? I hasn't even heard of it until last night.

Oh yeah, and Reefer Madness is so damn funny. I need a copy.

oh, i love that movie! when it's time for my next life to come, i insist on being marion cotillard.

sonic youth 37- i was watching this episode of intervention, and i swear, it was like watching a comedic version of goodfellas. but with a crazy alcoholic mother.

Haha, anything remotely like Goodfellas would be worth watching.

Indeed, the Gangster/Brooks double bill is great. I'm thinking Godfather II and Blazing Saddles for tomorrrow.

Max

About young Hitler as an angry artist-wanna-be. Amazing. Has anybody else seen this?

"In Bruges". I'm not sure if it should be considered a dark comedy, or a dark drama with funny moments. Either way, its was really enjoyable.

I'd watch the original, if I were you.

American Psycho

Really fucked up, but I like that kind of thing.

I want to read the book and watch the movie again.

MellySingsDoom 07.17.2008 06:29 PM

^^^The book is great - you won't be disappointed. Christian Bale is fab in the movie (doesn't hurt that I fancy him something rotten).

gmku 07.17.2008 06:31 PM

Who has seen Max, and what do you think of it?

MellySingsDoom 07.17.2008 06:34 PM

^^^ The film about Hitler the artist? I seem to be the only person in London who really liked it....that moment where Hitler says "I am the new avant-garde" is both absurd and chilling at the same time...was it Noah Taylor who played Hitler? A great performance by him.

gmku 07.17.2008 06:36 PM

Yeah, man, I love it. The whole movie is chilling and absurd. Great performances, too.

MellySingsDoom 07.17.2008 06:38 PM

The bit at the end was both horrible and fascinating. Have you seen Costa-Gavras' "Amen"? - very overblown, but amazing in places as well.
