The Night Porter - it sounded better than it was.

noisereductions 08.24.2010 07:13 AM

Night Train To Terror is good.

Good fucking fun and Emma Stone? I would probably let her do me...

atsonicpark 08.24.2010 04:36 PM

Yeah, Zombieland was fun in theaters, I can't imagine ever wanting to watch it again though, it was about as deep as a Steven Seagal film.

6/10

Oh, fuck yeah, BEAVER TRILOGY is the featured torrent on cinemageddon! That's one of my favorite movies ever, a definite 10/10. If anyone's on there and doesn't have Beaver Trilogy, you must get this movie.

I love Emma Stone.

Pretty fun movie. I liked all the little video game references. Might check out the comics, but right now I'm all about The Walking Dead.

^oh man I loved that one when I was younger. I saw it a million times.

Alex Winter looks bizarrely like Michael Richards on that cover, may be the haircut.

Scott Pilgrim opened at no. 5 and slipped down to no. 10, below a Twilight parody and a 3D remake of a crappy low budget horror film from the late 70s on thier opening weekend.

I fucking HATE American moviegoers.

Dr. Eugene Felikson 08.24.2010 11:20 PM

lol, Freaked!

That movie kinda sucks though.

I wager it'll get huge on DVD/Bluray/whatever. Similar to how Office Space took off long after it was in theaters

I thought Zombieland was a terrible waste of budget. The title and trailors would lead you to believe it's a constant and non-stop engagement w/ zombies. It's not. The presence of zombies throughout the film is miniscule. The tragedy is, they spent so much time and money creating a very impressive wasteland environments and scenarios, yet most of the movie involves the cast driving through these environments that give off an intensity and uneasiness that they are inhabited by zombies and that the will encounter them, but it never happens. It almost feels like they spent the whole budget on locations and props, that they absolutely had non for zombie characters. And when they did inject zombies, it was in such sparing doses, it felt pathetic... and far from a "zombieland".

Another thing, and I know it's been said, but I assure you, I'm not just echoing common criticism, but the whole time I was watching and right off the bat, it felt like the role of the Jew kid was written for Michael Cera but they couldn't cast him so they went with a generic Mr. Cera who choose to act just the fuck like him in every aspect. It just got irritating from the beginning on... dude, you're not Michael fucking Cera.

I like Emma stone OK, she's hot and all, but not enough of her, and she couldn't carry the movie. But I mean c'mon... a "Zombieland" movie that places a select few into Zombieland, yet the whole movie is about 4 people driving through very convincing desolate areas that are zombieless while trying to get along with each other. Fuck it! Waste of theme and film.

oh, and the ending.... they don't get any more anti-climatic.

Count Mecha 08.25.2010 12:38 AM

I like to think 80% of the budget went to paying for Bill Murray's cameo.

Have you seen anything else with that dude in it? Because he acts like that in every movie.. both him and Michael Cera are boring actors (Cera just happens to be really good at choosing interesting roles, aside from Year One).

Dig up any role of his prior to Cera's iconic fame post Superbad (2007). Watch how he adopts Cera's uncomfortable social awkwardness and more importantly, how Cera eats his words to conclude a punchline... how he mumbles and talks under his breath....

as far as I'm concerned this distinct comedic delivery wasn't seen before Cera's characters, at the same time, this guy pops up in Cera'esque like rolls deliving the same type of humor and happens to look a hell of a whole lot like him..... really, as movie buff'ish as you are, you can't fathom that he's filling rolls written for Cera or even just inspired by Cera and as a result is adapting his character to Cera's comedic awkwardness. If not by instinct, he may out right being directed into Cera like behavior.

is this him post Cera fame?

Oh, well me and my friends do call him a cheaper version of Cera -- he obviously gets roles handed to him cuz Cera isn't interested or is busy or whatever; still, though, I don't think he's consciously acting like Cera is every role he happens to be in -- they just have similiar styles -- but I can definitely see the role of Adventureland and Zombieland originally going to Cera.
