The Effenaar show was better as well as longer as their set at Ekko's the day before. And the support act was way better as well. If you ever have a chance to catch, or join even, Peter J Taylor Big Band, go see them. There were three drum kits and about 25 guitars going Branca, all local musicians except for Mr Taylor. They had only practiced for half an hour, but it sounded great.
Unfortunately I didn't tape them, my recorder crapped out... But I did tape both Disappears sets and will be uploading them to Dime shortly. Also taped Kleinindustrie's set at Effenaar (but not at Ekko).

Major news from Chicago's favorite reverb-friendly garage jammers, Disappears—the band has parted ways with Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley due to scheduling conflicts. Singer-guitarist Brian Case tells Gossip Wolf that the split was amicable, and the evidence bears him out—this winter Shelley's label, Vampire Blues, will release a collaboration that Disappears recorded with local droners White/Light in 2008. Drummer about town Noah Leger (Electric Hawk, Anatomy of Habit) will replace Shelley behind the kit—he makes his debut with the band on Sat 9/8 at the Dust Up, a one-day mini festival hosted by Big Star (1531 N. Damen) in the restaurant's parking lot. Among the other acts are Andre Williams & the Goldstars and Old Baby; starting at noon there's also a record fair, with goods from the Numero Group, Kranky, Bloodshot, and more.

WHOA, nooooo... With SY in limbo/grave, one would think there would be no scheduling conflicts (no major ones, anyway) between Steve and Disappears. Steve really propelled the band to reach a turbotronic level on Pre Language... I do not care for this shit news at all! :mad:

I found a studio version of this tune on youtube. Does anyone know when/where/what release this was on? As far as I knew it was never recorded.
Would love to have whatever album they released this on.

No news about the Collaborative LP with Disappears and White/Light, nor if this still features Steve (I assume it doesn't though). When you click on the link to their store, it mentions that their new full length called Era will be released in the Fall of 2013 on Kranky.

Well, if Steve delivers it himself....

Considering he's neither in the record nor in the band, it'd be slightly odd if he were Disappears' mailman...

Dude, for €29 they better ship it via DHL overnight delivery with strawberries on top.

OK, good news: shipping is NOT €29 - that's the TOTAL amount (€17 record + €12 shipping). Not that I have €29 anyway. But financial kamikaze is certainly not strange to me...

I guess I also misunderstood that. Just spotted that if you scroll up, there's a couple of stores listed (wordwide) where you might be able to buy it. May save on those shipping costs, if you're lucky to live nearby any of them.

OK, the WAV gave me all kinds of shit - it's 32-bit but also mono. With Audacity I converted it to 16-bit/44KHz; since there's only "one channel", that makes it 705kbps.
