I hate Shoot.
I don't particularly like Panty Lies, but I can usually tolerate it pretty well. Shoot just grates on my ears. |

Translation: You are continuing to suck any more? You fucking cinema! |
I voted for Renegade Princess in this thread, but I've actually grown to like it.
My least favorite songs as of now are probably Swimsuit Issue, most of the second half of EJSTNS, Sleepin Around, and Lights Out. I never took stuff like My Friend Goo or Panty Lies too seriously, so neither of them bother me. I actually kinda like Panty Lies. |
This topic just bugs me. Why would I want to think about Sonic Youth's worst song? That would be almost as pointless as thinking about Pearl Jam's best!

bubblegum is good. your choices don't make sense. kool thing is fantastic.

you must spread more reputation around before giving it to swa(y) again

Yeah, but my point is, for a great band, it's quite possible to like most everything, and have a few songs that don't excite one particularly and possibly a few that annoy for some reason. Why even spend the time thinking about those songs? For me with Sonic Youth it's likely to be their most boring moments (which are for me, few and far between). I'm sure there's some song on EJT&NS that I hardly even remember that is light years from my favorite moments. I'm sure that's also true for Led Zeppelin of portions of Presence and In Through the Out Door. It just seems like a waste of brain cells to think about. A thread like this, for me, reads just as an opportunity for people to prove they are critical thinkers because they don't love everything by a band that inspires worship. Cool enough, but you (and I don't mean you) don't have to prove it to me at least. |
"I don't care, I don't wanna hear it
Cause I'm not talkin' to you no more And I'm never gonna shadow your door No way" Actually the chorus of no way... it's ok, but when i heard Thurston singing "i'm talking to you no more..." it sound's like a sissy boy...oh i cut myself and i wanna cry!! |
I don't know. I'm not a huge fan of some of the Washing Machine stuff, but I don't think there's really anything truly awful on any of the studio albums. Every Sonic Youth song has at least something a little special on it. If I HAD to pick a worst it would be one of the one's where Kim Gordon overdoes the grunt-singing or Thurston gets too sassy and forgets that his poetry is mostly sub-par at best.

This is by far one of the weirder topics of late, and I'm really only here to remind a few folks that "Bubblegum" was not on EVOL until the CD came out. I don't listen to EVOL that way. Same goes for Sister and Master Dik. The worst thing about CDs was the compulsion to fill them up.

I really don't like Drunken Butterfly.

And that's why I never feel bad skipping them :) |
I can't believe people voted for Renegade Princess and Kool Thing. Those songs are great, okay well. I mean I could see someone not liking Kool Thing, but Renegade Princess?! Come on!
|
the whole of rather ripped in my opinion and also pretty much all of sonic nurse gets my vote.
|
okay, i admit it, i enjoy bubblegum.
go ahead, shoot me. |
Um... Bublegum rocks. Watt wails on the bass- can't believe this made the poll.
My vote: Skink |
