I didn't see that, I'll have to check it out!

hipster_bebop_junkie 02.11.2012 11:57 AM

I'll upload Low 2000-11-08 John Peel Session to archive.org (I've got .flac files). I've wanted to hear these sessions for years. Thank you so much, Stu!

hipster_bebop_junkie 02.11.2012 05:28 PM

I'm now torrenting this:

LOW - John Peel Session, Maida Vale Studio 4, London, UK, November 8th, 2000 (FLAC) [lowtorrent]

Also uploading it to archive.org, will post the link to that as soon as it is ready.

hipster_bebop_junkie 02.11.2012 07:37 PM

Okay. I think the upload to archive.org was successful. Anyone who downloads from there, please let me know how it goes. First time I've ever done this, and would do my best to fix things if something got flawed:

When you can play the streaming audio, all went well. And I'm hearing it now ;)
You could change the keywords if you want, by adding semicolons ( ; ) in between them.
As long as there's no spaces in the filenames, uploading to LMA works quite fluently. But with spaces in the filenames, they get removed, and then the md5 checksum fails because the files have been renamed ... Which is what just happened to me (I'm uploading a couple of Vic Chesnutts). So you did better than me :-)

Thanks, man. I didn't realize I messed it up with the keywords, but I'm gonna try to fix it. I'm uploading rappard's recording of Evangelista now (which I seeded to dime a few weeks ago) and then I plan to upload some installments of the Avantgarde Project that I have in my collection, and which aren't on archive at the moment. :)

Not really my cup of tea this, I hate rap. But it's a nice mix of songs.

about
Remember when you used to make actual tapes for your friends, or a girl you liked? You'd spend hours trying to come up with the right songs in the
right order, trying to appease your friend's preferences but show your tastes as well. This side project uses that exact idea, but takes it
one step farther. I took a collection of 11 songs that I love (no rap music), songs that I think fans of any type of music would love, and I
added a verse to each. I didn't chop the songs up and flip the samples for brownie points. I didn't try to make something new out of these
songs. I just tried to leave the original songs alone as much as I could, and added one verse over each song to make it seem as if I was
invited into the studio with the band to collaborate. All of these collaborations are, of course, unauthorized, but I tried to make each
verse as relevant to the songs' original lyrics as I possibly could. The genres range from classic soul to modern indie rock, with a little
bit of everything sprinkled in between. Some of the songs might be very familiar to you, and others may not, but I feel that I've added a nice
little compliment to each of them (you might think I ruined them though). Enjoy.

Oh, I will listen. Thanks.

By the way, _tunic_, I forgot to mention this before (sorry): I've been told by Jeroen van der Poel that the project he and Konkurrent intended to do back when Low visited The Netherlands in November of last year, actually didn't materialize. A shame, truly. The bright side of his message, though, is that he also said his film, "A Song Of Praise", is coming out in a special dedicated website in two months.

Back in July, we reported that post-punk/noise legends Swans were working on a lengthy new album. At the time, they were playing two-and-a-half hour-long live shows ("and the album may be a comparable length," we said) with new songs that were as long as 30 minutes. Now, according to SPIN's interview with Swans frontman Michael Gira, that material is going to be on a new LP titled The Seer, due out this summer via Gira's Young God Records.

The album will indeed feature around two hours of music on a double CD and triple vinyl. Gira also confirmed that some of the tracks would clock in at 30 minutes. Gira told Spin, "To me it’s the complete synthesis of everything I’ve done and Swans has done."

He also teased guest spots on the album from Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Karen O, Alan Sparhawk and Mimi Parker of Low, and "Beach Boys-style harmonies" from Akron/Family.
Gira is about to start a world tour performing solo in support of his recent compilation The Milk of M. Gira: Collected Solo Home Recordings 2001 - 2010.

Because Sub Pop is out of the loop. Haha. Yeah, I just received their e-mail and thought, "All of this is old news". In any case, Retribution Gospel Choir's "The Revolution EP" is gonna be officially released next week. I'll be buying it. I'm aware a lot of fans do hate it, though.
