Less noteworthy, but nice nevertheless:

Used LP copies of Strange Days and Morrison Hotel. My old copy of Strange Days was an original pressing but a little beat up. This is a later pressing but it's nearly perfect inside and out. So is Morrison Hotel, and this is also my first experience with that album.

Also a used LP of Disraeli Gears, again to replace an older beat-up copy.

Can you say, "Score!"?

These were technically just laid on me by the kind fellows who made them, but I will list them here because I am looking forward to checking them out.

Acid Mothers Temple - Nam Myo Ho Ren Ge Kyo

Träd Gräs och Stenar vs AMT 2007 tour CD

gmku 09.07.2007 09:25 PM

I see this all the time at Records On Wheels (as well as 180G (also Simply Vinyl) In Utero... I NEED them, but I also need to buy this amp first... as well as Daydream Deluxe...) They are both 40 bucks, which is a hefty sum for... a single vinyl, y'know?

I picked up The Destroyed Room 2XLP and Arcade Fire's Funeral LP, though. Yay!
I didn't know The Destroyed Room had songs not on the cd... fantastic!

Everyneurotic 09.07.2007 09:34 PM

i got in the mail:

avarus - rasvaaja (lp)
kousokuya - echoes from deep underground (cd/dvd)

sc hit the jackpot.

40 bucks? My SV copy of Nevermind was only 19. I wonder if they priced it wrong, because I've seen it online for about 30.

k-krack 09.07.2007 10:02 PM

Score!!!
The record store here jacks prices up a lot, at any rate... Right now, DdN is $60... last time I was there, it was $44...
And the dude kind of tries to bullshit you, he claimed that the price [of Daydream] will only go up now, because it's a limited run... errrrr.... no, man, it isn't.

Dude, you need to pick me up a copy of this $19 Nevermind... I will totally send you all the money for it and shipping, not to mention all my love.

Cantankerous 09.07.2007 10:23 PM

180gm. blonde on blonde
i think i might return it. i like my original copy better because it still sounds brilliant after 40 years.

drrrtyboots 09.07.2007 10:27 PM

Ordered the new Dirty Projector's album Rise Above today and pre-ordered the upcoming Black Dice record Load Blown.

Settle down, tiger. That's a keeper, and there's nothing wrong with owning more than one copy.

Which label? Sundazed or Simply Vinyl?

(I'm not embarrassed to admit to owning three, by the way: a cheesy 80s reissue, and both the Sundazed and Simply Vinyl.)

I would if I could, but I didn't see any other copies.

I hate bullshitting record store owners. About a year ago one tried to tell me that this was the last month any new releases were coming out on vinyl because of oil prices. The next 11 months proved him wrong, of course. They still came out, but then of course he used the oil-excuse to jack his prices up--even while the other store in town stayed consistently at the lower prices. What a jerk.

k-krack 09.07.2007 11:18 PM

Shucks!
I'll have to save up $40... $80... ....fuck, $140... (Nevermind, In Utero, Daydream... god dammit!)

Sorry about that. The store's hard to get to, too. I have to drive thru shitty traffic about 30 minutes at least.

Meaning, I can't just run over and check to let you know, much as I wish I could help you out.

Gone are the good old days when I worked just down the block from a store. But I have to say the stores around here are so much better stocked with new vinyl than the ones in Iowa City, and I didn't think they did a bad job at all.

dirk diggler 09.08.2007 09:25 AM

The last record I bought was an LP replacement for my old copy of White Light/White Heat that got cracked. Before that it was 4 Violins by Tony Conrad. It rocks. The last CD I bought was Sound Grammar by Ornette Coleman which is the best new record I've heard in years (other than The Alarm Clocks LP). Not a lot of people I know bought it and it's their loss. Amazing that a 75 year old man could make such fresh, inventive music. Of course, FE doesn't carry it which is another reason you should Boycott them.

nicfit 09.08.2007 10:36 AM

put "boycott FE" in your sign, you'll lose less time when posting.

Let me put it this way--if you have to ask, you'll never understand.

Florya 09.08.2007 11:46 AM

Esther Venrooy - Shift Coordinate points

screamingskull 09.10.2007 10:09 AM

Bought these today, all on CD.

Got given this from my mum on vinyl yesterday.

gmku 09.10.2007 10:20 AM

Classics, all!

screamingskull 09.10.2007 10:21 AM

great! i am listening to Remain in Light by the Talking Heads at the moment, and it is fantastic! I am getting jealous of my mum too as she went to see them years and years ago.

Rob Instigator 09.10.2007 10:58 AM

I got the new Deerhunter on vinyl packaged with their newest EP. nice!

I also got Xiu Xiu KNIFE PLAY on CD used for $5.00

yeah!

HairwayToSteven 09.10.2007 11:53 AM

Adding to my Waits collection:

sonicl 09.10.2007 11:57 AM

Corsano / Flower Duo - The Radiant Mirror.

On first listen, not as brilliant as the live performance that prompted me to buy it.

pbradley 09.10.2007 12:11 PM

Zen Arcade and Is It... Man Or Astro-Man! coming in the mail.

Have em both on CD but thought they deserved a vinyl purchase.

I'll most likely get some Edith Piaf on vinyl next time for some peace of mind music.

gmku 09.10.2007 04:17 PM

My second vinyl copy of Nevermind. LP collectors, be advised: there are currently two very good versions of this masterpiece floating around out there.

http://rateyourmusic.com/release/alb.../nevermind_f4/

& please, no comments from the peanut gallery re my compulsive-obsessive purchase of more than one copy of this fine album. I know it's wrong but what should I do? I love myself better than you.

MysticalChicken 09.10.2007 04:40 PM

KT Tunstall - Eye to the Telescope (okay, sometimes I buy CDs one at a time)

I counted her as a guilty pleasure for a while, but she's actually really good.

There it is again. Freakin beautiful.

You multiple copy buying freak.

gmku 09.10.2007 05:31 PM

This got me to thinking about the multiple copies I have:

The Beatles (white album) - 3
Abbey Road - 3
Sgt Pepper's - 2
Sticky Fingers - 2
Exile on Main St. - 2
Goat's Head Soup - 2
Beggars Banquet - 3
Let it Bleed - 2
Some Girls - 2
Blonde on Blonde - 2
Bringing It All Back Home - 2
Highway 61 Revisited - 2
Velvet Underground and Nico - 4
Live 1969 VU - 2
White Light/White Heat - 2
Loaded - 2
Trout Mask Replica - 2
Free Jazz - 2
Ramones - 2

These are the ones I can think of, off the top of my head. In most cases, it's been finding a better copy, a cleaner copy, but in some cases, it's been finding a special copy, for example, colored vinyl.

k-krack 09.10.2007 05:38 PM

Shit man! Send me some VU and Beefheart!

I was so stoked when I found a brand new copy of VU+Nico on vinyl, and at the time I didn't even have a record player. I just saw it, and nearly creamed my jeans. Needless to say, I nabbed it.

Similarly, I have:

Coffee cups - 6
Dinner plates - 6
Chairs - 8
Knives - 8
Forks - 8
Spoons - 8
Dogs - 2

All things you can have multiple copies of if you're NORMAL, haha.

gmku 09.10.2007 05:49 PM

haha

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 09.10.2007 06:31 PM

The Dead C - perform vain erudite and stupid comp.
at first I thought I shan´t buy it, but t'was cheap and it indeed has alot of songs that are not on any of the albums I already had.

dirk diggler 09.12.2007 08:44 AM

Another cool album I got recently is Ornette Coleman-In All Languages Double LP at Downtown Records (I would rather give Bruce Gallantner my money anyday instead of Jimmy Johnson who you should Boycott). One record with the classic quartet and one with the Prime Time Band. Nice. Only like $12 still sealed.

pokkeherrie 09.12.2007 08:56 AM

some wire tapper 2cd and a yoko ono cd for 50 cents each.
