A good friend of mine was living in Japan last year, and he told me about seeing you perform with O’Rourke and Haino for the release of Imikuzushi. He was under the impression that the show had been recorded for future release. Three albums in, is this yearly performing-and-recording thing a regular occurrence for you three now? And does my friend’s hopeful impression have any truth in it? It does — in fact, I’ve mixed it already. Both Haino and Jim are really happy, they think it’s the best one thus far. It’s probably going to be a single LP, not a double, and it does have the rock thing like the last two, but there’s also some stuff on there that’s quite different. There’s a piece where Haino plays flute, it’s almost like a free-jazz vibe. There’s also a piece with Charlemagne Palestine and us playing; Charlemagne is playing wine glasses, and Eiko [Ishibashi], this great Japanese piano player and singer/songwriter, she’s also playing wine glasses. So we’re all sort of playing wine glasses and Haino is doing vocals, so there’s some more textural, not really ‘rock’ stuff on there, but then there’s rock stuff too. It’s just funny the way it’s turned out that I happen to be in Japan around the same time every year, and we happen to do a gig and it’s fun, it gets recorded. I don’t have any immediate plans for Japan next year so who knows how long that’ll keep going, but there will be another trio record next year at some point. Imikuzushi was my favourite album of last year, Haino at his absolute best so I am unreasonably excited right now. |
and here she is...

Haino US tour!!! I got tickets to see him & Corsano in Oberlin. He is playing in a chapel in Oberlin the day before but I can't make that one :( I'm finally able to see one of my heroes!! |
:D Yeah. I got my ticket. I think it's in May? I forget....But yeah...super excited.

fuck, I wonder why I didn't hear about the PDX show until 3 days after it took place (and I get the Portland newspapers, too!)
|
This month is good. I'll be at the Nashville Corsano show & the very next day I'm going to finally see Acid Mothers Temple!!!
Any one ever heard/seen Corsano/Haino duo? Kind of wondering what they sound like together. |
I saw them together in London about 6 or 7 years ago, it sounded kind of like you would expect it to, Keiji Haino played air synth for a bit, then some guitar, and chris corsano played his usual drum solo for an hour.

A recording of Keiji Haino performing at ISSUE PROJECT ROOM in Brooklyn, New York last night (April 17th, 2013), has been uploaded to Soundcloud by Sex Magazine:

Thank you so much. It killed me that I had to miss the Oberlin vocal performance. I guess he had a minor cold during this tour? Someone had said that on the Oberlin show facebook event page. |

Thanks, looks like I may have to miss the show tomorrow due to the recession |
greaT video, but, sadly, horrible audio

Tbh, Nazoranai is maybe the least good thing I've ever heard from Haino, it's not bad, but compared too his other stuff it's kind of dull. Has Stephen O'Malley got a big slush fund to rope in all the much-better-than-him musicians that he plays with our something?

I'll let you know how it is then.

Saw Nazoranai in Glasgow last night and I can say, hand on me heart, that it was amongst the top 3 gigs I´ve ever seen in me life. Would strongly advise against missing out on this tonight if you happen to be in London. I would even rate this more highly than the Fushitsusha performance I saw in Newcastle last year.

that occurs a lot on collabs, everyone is waiting for the other to take off, the sum does not equal the parts.... |
Keiji Haino was in Houston last week record shopping at Vinal Edge:
![]() Per store owner Chuck Roat: Keiji was searching for world/folk musics ON VINYL!!! Neat trivia we learned about him this week: Petting a kitten before performing can calm him. EDIT: unFREAKing real......he played a solo show in Houston last week. |
two new fushitsusha records incoming on nov. 21....
