i wish i didn't have to but my ADHD requires caffeine |
ooh. that i can try.
i get a raging headache if i skip caffeine, and i can't focus/get irritated. i should be on adderall, really... but i need to get to a doc. |

some shitty fishface psychiatrist tried to give me strattera and i said no |
UGH, strattera is so bad. it made my brother super depressed and he had a bad interaction with another med. i got depressed, too. need the actual stimulant... the whole point is to not be in bed not doing shit! another doc said i just had anxiety and offered xanax hah.
|
xanax can get addictive and make you more anxious on withdrawal.
anyway i've learned to manage the adhd with lists (evernote), alarms, moderate caffeine, suitable work/environment and adjusted expectations. |

I've spent plenty of time up in the "northwest" where 96% of the people are white and living in their indigenous habitat and this simply does not compute. White girls LOVE black coffee like they got jungle fever yo.. Also, I am drinking Steinlager for the fuck of it. Its like a Rolling Rock crossed with a St Pauli Girl but not as funky as a Becks.. I had to cut back on the thick IPAs I been drinking for several weeks straight and drink something a bit lighter ![]() |
yeah, i can't take IPAs and imperial stouts all the time. i love hefeweisens for when i just want something refreshing. that sounds like a great drinking session beer, when you want to day drink.
and the black coffee thing, hm. maybe it's living in south florida for a few years. |

blanco please... portlandia is not orlandia... it's another planet altogether |

that looks pretty. maybe in the summer. i'm trying to kick the coffee dependence and get back on tea though but winter is winter |
Do you drink black spiced chai? Its a great alternative to coffee
|
Quote:
yeah! i drink all kinds of teas-- chai is usually a cheap assam + spices (i drink cheap assam regularly). the thing is it needs sugar to bring out the flavor, and it's best with milk, so i only drink it in winter when i need to pork up for the season, ha ha. i had assam (with cream) a couple of days ago. nice & warming. im sitting with a large glass of sencha right now, like a japanese sararyman-- sencha is good and all, but not enough caffeine to stand up to the snow outside. at least in the morning. afternoon i can always have tea because i can start to wind down-- my favorite right now is a blend of keemum and lapsang and other smoky teas. i'm stuck with coffee by necessity until the days get a bit longer-- prolly february... then my brain switches. |
I drink water
|
I like my black chai like i drink my coffee. Black, no cream or sugar but I've become a fan of bitter, between my jet black coffee sludge, Double IPA obsession, and black chai straight up..
|
chai is good but it is like cappucinos. so much cream makes sleep sleep.

What i really like is Armenian style coffee black with chai spices... mmmm its the best of both worlds! Ethiopians do it like this too

suchfrendo really likes that one i like it alright-- it's good for sleeping, with all those hops |

i've never had armenian coffee but if it's anything like turkish (i suspect) the spice that makes all the difference in it is cardamom-- which you can buy cheaply in bulk at your local food co-op (well, cheapness is relative-- cheaper than $4 chai at starfux). masala chai ("chai" in 'merica) is brewed with cardamom pods (plus ginger, cinnamon, etc). you can blend your own brew w/ cheap broken leaf assam. if you want to add cardamom to your coffee, just use it in powder when you brew-- it's great to improve a coffee that's starting to lose its freshness (e.g. you bought it ground last week and it's not quite where it was before). a tiny pinch will do, the aromas are very volatile and it can overpower. |

Yeah, cardamon is the trick plus a little nutmeg and "pumpkin" all-spice blend... i referred to it as Armenian because of my politics..it is really the same as turkish coffee but we Oriental Orthodox Christians prefer to not give them the credit ;) |
nutmeg! yes.
also, if you like bitter, FERNET BRANCA is a must try for you. great post-meal, great in a coffee, great even with coca cola. check it out. |
