seriously?
nice crescendo though but it does sound a bit tired

what is this song about? i dont get rid of the feeling its something pervers .. "im the one who loves your mother" - does he mean hes fucking the daughter?

"I'm the man who loves you mother" is the line. My understanding is that it's based on the book 'Pink Steam', but that may have just been the inspiration for the title.

I actually like the lyrics to the song. It sums up what it feels like to be in an "open marriage" rather well, actually. I get the feeling Thurston has some experience with this.

It's kind of a throw away tune overall, but not bad as disposable pop/rock. Certainly miles from their strongest, but that's not surprising or anything.

I've always got the impression the song was addressed to the coco. Maybe i'm being too literal?

SonicBebs 09.23.2009 04:13 AM

er, i've just read the full yrics on another site and i hope its not about coc!

i thought it was about him trying to connect with his daughter but then he gets all sexy so i hope to god not

exactly what i thought first. sounds as if hes singing about his daughter, but on the other hand its sexual, evan how he sings it. dont know what this means. i hope nothing, maybe it just means, that to thurston, who evan has a sexual relationship to things like guitars, everything is sexualized.

The worst SY song ever? Are you insane? There is some fierce competition there...did someone say Campfire?

I'm interested in all songs in which the sonic youth members talk about their daily life! I love this song like all these ones:

dirty boots, titanium exposé, swimsuit issue, shoot, washing machine

I do care what the song lyrics say but I'd definitely like to know what their daily lives are like. Doesn't seem like they have much spare time other then music+art+a book and extras= a vacation of some sort in the winter.

O.K. Powerpoint. Leave 'Sleeping Around' alone please. It's quite catchy so expect it to work well all around. I'm not gonna take the mocking of this song seriously as clearly it deserves special attention and has it's level of appeal. 'Someone's mom says....'Driving Around' I love it.

Rapture sucks. It's a weak different sort of filler for an albumn. Potential comes if it can grow on you giving it strength. Weeks to earn strength?

yeah, I think Sleepin' Around is the worst sy song too.

Why Campfire as the worst? I think it's pretty cool.
