its a fucking genius album
i bought it while drunk in bournmouth, and it was the first SY album i'd bought since Dirty (dont ask). It made me fall in love with them. I love the mixture of noise(?) and pop and for me it takes all the good stuff of ATL and makes it better |
It's the only SY album I always come back to. Having been introduced to them in late 2000, Murray Street was the first of their albums that I had been looking forward to, counting the days until the release date. By that time I had already bought all the other albums, and Murray Street was an instant favorite. I love every track on it, every note - and to this day, when I listen to it carefully, I can still hear details I hadn't noticed before that make the experience even richer. Definitely one of their best.

Best Geffen-era album, even if Plastic Sun always jars a little.

this is my problem with murray street I EXPECT my sonc youth to be jarring. Murray is like a slow walk to nowhere,. |
slow walk to bliss.

Well, rather than describing them as a "slow walk to nowhere", I'd say several of the tracks have a psychedelic, sometimes hypnotic quality. I can see why that's not everyone's cup of tea, but I love it.
