Almost Famous sucks but it's definitely not a "worst film ever".

I think it's alright. But that's besides the point. When someone says something like American Pie is a worst movie ever, it just makes me think they haven't seen too many movies. American Pie is a pretty middle of the road film. It's entertaining, but it's neither great nor horrible. |

agreed, nr.

5 pages of bad movies and no one has said Plan 9 from Outer Space?
Shame on you, Sonic Youth Gossip. Shame on you. |
I love Almost Famous, and that's about all there is to it.

Plan 9 from outerspace is an amazing film.
|
are you kidding? I mean its a laugh but its horrendous. even at 3 in the morning in the middle of the woods with a bunch of other nerds on a home theatre set up.. it still only just made background interest and laughs for me.
|
No I'm not kidding. That film is about a thousand times more entertaining than most of the bullshit that people like. I'd take that over a thousand Donnie Dickfaces and Requiem for a Drugmoviethatsucks.
My personal favorite Ed Wood film is Glen or Glenda?, however. |
Highlander II

"Plan 9 From Outer Space" is too amusing at this point to be considered worst movie. If you played that in theatres it would probobly be as celebrated as "The Rocky Horrer Picture Show", its bad but not unwatchable which automatically makes it NOT the worst movie ever.

the Spirit. terrible terrible

Plan 9 is fucking great. A lot of Ed Wood films are great. If a film keeps you amused for its duration, then it's not a bad film. I'd rather watch Plan 9 over something like The Matrix any day.

Man, I've seen that. In fact, I've seen The Erotic Gladiator, some lame A Clockwork Orange parody, and more, all by the same company. It could be my Mastermind subject. I was under 18, working in a videostore, and I let my friends rent them, and then watched them myself. It was before the Internet. No way is Rocky Balboa one of the worst films ever! It's got a cool, melancholy atmosphere (Rocky hanging-out in empty bars, talking to himself) and it's (deliberately) funny as hell at times. These 'worst film ever' threads are tricky because the real worst films ever are just terrible - they're not terrible in a cult-ish way, a so-bad-it's-good-way, and they're not amatuerish student films - they're just terrible, no redeeming factors and not entertaining at all. Like a horror film called Strays which used to be shown on Channel 5 every week or so, about a family being attacked by cats - not panthers or some kind of nuclear-cat but just domesticated cats that are angry for some reason. It was just terrible in every way, like you couldn't believe a human-being would ever get the idea to make it, write the script, get the funding and direct it over the course of two years, genuinely believing it's good. |
Exactly. (to nr's post)

cabin boy isa one star movie with some funny moments. howard the duck is not only unfunny, but confusingly inept in ALL it's aspects. |
Cabin Boy is terrible. But I watch it every few years to remind myself HOW awful. Plus it syncs up with Ween's THE MOLLUSK. (Seriously. I've tried it.)
