Things about communism:

- It is a system that can only work on an international level. You simply can't have it in one or two countries alone. Regardless of what you've been fed by historians, communism wasn't such a thing in Russia or China.

- In the event of such a revolutionary system taking over the world, people would still have to work at least 3 hours a day, but the difference would be that your role in society would be dictated by your true potential as a human being, and not from what you're pushed to do in order to survive.

- People who don't use money in what still remains a capitalist society ARE NOT communists, but idiots who give it a bad name.

- Communism certainly doesn't imply sharing your toothbrush or house with
strangers, that's an obsolete view brought in by the damage of believing that this system ever took place on this planet.

Just to add: There is no real contradiction between Communism and selfishness. If someone feels that THEY will benefit from such a social shift as one brought about by Communism, then that doesn't make them any less of a communist than anyone else.

yes & no. marx predicted the rise of communism only after the triumph of capitalism, so yes russia and china didn't fit the mold. regardless collectivization is a horrid way of life.

no, the kibbutzes (sorry dont know the plural here) were founded by bolsheviks-- they operate as a collective farm. if they earn money on the outside they give their salaries to the commune. the kibbutz itself operates with money but its members do not require it in order to obtain housing, food, medical services, use of vehicles, etc.


i knew this woman who had 2 kids, a boy & a girl in one bedroom. the girl was 14 and the boy 10, which meant that a budding young woman was sleeping in the same room as a little boy. the result was that they fought endlessly. i pointed out the deveopment of the young girl and suggested she build a room where the girl can have some privacy. but because there was no private property, and no internal use of money, she could not build without the permission of the community, nor could she buy it herself. she requested an extra room, but other people protested, "how dare you ask, we have 4 kids in the same room! "

i never want to live in a world like that. i'd rather die in a free market than live under the opression of the herd. at least i get to choose how i die rather than rot under the orders of a committee.

Those are not communists you talk about, they are filthy hippies. The communists i have encountered drive sports cars, like the good life and have generally good sex. Just because you call yourself a bolshevik (the horror) and you live in a pigsty, it most certainly doesn't make you one.

ah, except this was not the communism of marx. he looked towards the abolition of the wages system and the disappearance of the state.He envisioned a society of freely associated producers.
What doesn't work is Capitalism, which is dragging humankind into a world of war, the destruction of the environment, a neglect of human values and economic collapse.
