penguins..?
here's an interesting read.. animal sexual behavior (from wikipedia) |
On a completely unrelated topic:
I got out of my car last night and a guy with a mohawk walking a little bitty dog mumbled something to me. I said, "what", against my better judgement. He then mumbled something. I got closer. "What was that?" I was in a good mood and being polite. I thought he asked me if I liked his mohawk. I got even closer. "Do you want to suck my dick?" He asked me. I let out a squeal like a little girl that I haven't made since I was about seven years old. I promptly walked away. Ouch... |
Being gay isn't something you sign up for.....trust me.

this is a fair funny thread to read over. i'm sitting here stoned outa me brains thinkin i'm a mutant.
but on a serious note, Atari2600 made a few great points, a well spoken post and Krastian you made the best post so far and kept it nice and simple cuz it isn't something you sign up for. |
Thanks man:D

I think it's upbringing. Two of my uncles had a terrible upbringing, lots of parental violence and shit. They're both gay.

I think that y'all are giving waaayyyy to much credit to genetics. genes and DNA sequences have become a cop out in our society. everybody is jumping on the band wagon. the drug addict says its in his genes, the child molestor, the criminally insane, etc, all of the subbasement levels of our society. what ever happened to accepting your own life as your own? I still can't believe that sexuality be it hetero or homo, has ANYTHING to do with genetics. next we will be trying to isolate the fetish genes that make some guys get off on watching midget scat porn. nonsense i tell you! we learn much of our behavior, if not ALL of it. Genes play a role in the physiological reaction (i.e. intensity of sexual arousal) but not in the object of that arousal itself. |

Ah, but are you saying that because of what you believe, or because your genetics caused you to say that? |
That was a joke, in case you were wondering. I'm actually in complete agreement.

It has been proven that the majority of homosexuals are born that way. However, I do know a few gay people who have actually made a choice, and I do not doubt that many do make the choice of becoming homosexual, but if such is the case, it does not discard the fact that many are biologically homosexual.
I believe homosexuals are being improperly treated by not just religious types, films and music, but even by the plebeian who has turned the word "fag" into a hateful word without any conscious that they are contributing to the hatred of innocent people. Homosexuals are not harming anyone and they deserve to be seen as people whether they chose to be homosexual or whether it was genetics that has caused them, as the Christians would say, "To be taken by Satan." |

i dont agree, atleast i dont fel this way. Honestly I fel its screwed up how most female friends act in ways that would normally seem 'gay'. helping people dress, hey how do my boobs look to ya? I dont go to my friend and say, how are my balls. |
This turns me on:
![]() Does this make me gay? Or just a lightbulb? Or both? |
Both, You gay lightbulb.

Your female friends are clearly less inhibited and more comfortable with their own sexuality than you. I think women in general are less inclined to feel the need to hide behind a wall of bullshit machismo when it comes to being close with one another. It's not 'screwed up', it's perfectly healthy. What's the male equivalent? Punching each other in the gut? Lighting our farts? Conversing in no more than monosyllables in order to assert and prove our rampant, super-heterosexual alpha-maleness? I fucking despair of men sometimes. Women really should inherit the earth. |
noumenal is right...nature vs. nurture?? It's both.
The human mind is incredibly complex and human instinct is incredibly strong. Both of these are paths to all sorts of unique behaviors, homosexuality being one of them. I, as most of you do I'm sure, know some homosexual men, and it is clear that they do not have a choice to be hetero or homo. If an early life experience caused that behavior in them, I don't know. But either way, homosexuality is a lifestyle that is uncommon but not rare. People of any orientation should be treated with respect regarding that orientation. At the same time, flaunting, whining, and complaining regarding your orientation should be ignored with indifference. |

where has it been proven and how could such a thing be proven? That shit is like string theory, it is a philosophy, and as much as it may appear sensible it is untestable. how could to test sexuality? did they test children? is that reliable? come on. |
ghey thread

damn good point! to answer yes it's not "proven" yet, but it isn't proven either that it's learned. i tend to lean a lot on the genes and their expression because that can be proven/studied. it would be safer to say that's innate rather than genetic. there was some recent experiment with animals that tend to indicate that stresses during pregnancy could cause hormonal changes in the fetus that would lead to a "homosexual" brain if you can call it that. what we need is more and better science to understand. the politics is a separate thing-- science is not going to tell us one way or another how to live. it merely provides explanations for how things work. politics doesn't explain how things work, but it determines how we live in a society. two very different things. |
You people are cracked.
