Bitchen! Now, to do my best to resurrect my credit card, currently in an unusable pulpy state...

Having been asked about it just today, "Spirit Desire" definitely is still in
the cards. Looking as though I'll have to seek out publishers for it, though, as self-funding ain't in the cards and hasn't been for too long, really. It's encouraging there are people who still care about it. Other than me, I mean.

On the basis that there are people who still care about it, have you thought about crowd funding?

Quote aside, I'm super excited for the upcoming Caught on Tape record. I've read on the twitter that Three Lobed might be having a Caught on Tape release soon as well.

Thurston Moore returns
with a special set of recordings
for The Blank Tapes

Thurston Moore returns to North London independent record label Blank Editions with a new extended space age composition for the cassette series, Blank Tapes.
Inspired by the comet-chaser Rosetta presently orbiting an epic journey to 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko, Sonic Youth founder Thurston Moore sings to the spacecraft "you were born to catch her light / and revel in her flight / before she goes too far / to unnamed stars / into deepest solar reaches / past all she has yet to teach us...." with heavenly accompaniment by Hush Arbors on guitar, Samara Lubelski on ethereal violin and Sunburned Hand of the Man's John Moloney on drums. This original seven minute and twenty second song is a rare treat from this group recorded to honour Sun Ra on the occasion of his Earth-birth centennial.
Side B'a "Rebellion of Joy" is a bliss-metal excursion of four minutes and twenty seconds splendid in instrumental chaos sounding much like the cassette's cover artwork: Sun-drenched goddesses smeared into a black magick skull galaxy.
Produced by Ecstatic Peace Library in the name of Thurston's unending love of the cassette tape format. Offered in a limited edition of 700 copies and presented in a library case with a full colour printed j card featuring collages by Julien Langendorff.
Blank Editions previously released Thurston Moore's radical springtime protest single "Detonation." Thurston Moore's forthcoming full length record "The Best Day" will be released later this year by Matador Records also on cassette tape!

This release is pretty good. I got a chance to listen to it today. The second track sounds pretty similar to "Heather Angel" at some points. But an enjoyable listen.

Did anyone go see Kim and Loren Connors? That sounds like quite the duo! I'm excited to hear anyone's experiences. Hopefully we might get a boot...

It was an interesting improvised set... Loren Connors was making amazing sounds out of his guitar, it sounded like underwater music, while Kim alternated between guitar, vocals and harmonica in a very Body/Head style. Someone was definitely filming the whole thing, hopefully it will show up on Windows Have Eyes.

from a new Downtown Music Gallery update

THURSTON MOORE - Sonic STREET Chicago (CVD 15; USA) An epic outing on electric guitar, recorded in November 2013, as part of an evening of music and film at the Art Institute of Chicago. The CD features a single magnificent improvisation, ranging from brittle, delicate passages to full-throttle flame-throwing. Performing an accompaniment to James Nares' brilliant film Street, Moore played with his back to the screen, letting the sounds and images converge and diverge of their own accord. The result was an extraordinary stand-alone live recording that shows Moore at peak power, one of the most confident and original guitarists of his generation. CD $14

Can we agree that the best SY-related thing that happened in 2014 was Kim absolutely DESTROYING Aneurysm at the R&RHoF?

I lost my mind when I heard she was gonna perform with Nirvana and then she did THAT.

I really love this! Never heard the Thing before, but going to listen them more! Flaten & Nilssen-Love rhythm work is absolutely murder (like somebody has given speed to Wright brothers of Nomeansno) & Gustafsson & Thurston do also their best!
