Holy shit....VINYL....I'm gonna go kick myself in the face now.

stu666 04.09.2008 01:50 PM

it's in the store now!

(pre-sale)

stu666 04.10.2008 10:12 AM

how come the shipping cost is so high for this, the cheapest to the uk is $11.40, when i ordered Lee's All the stars 12" the other day shipping was only $2.80 and now it has gone up to $13.00  i might wait to order this and see if the price changes again

nicfit 04.10.2008 11:24 AM

to be honest, between those 2 I think $2.80 is the wrong one :D

stu666 04.10.2008 12:54 PM

they must of made a mistake because they only charged me $2.80 for Lee's the other day, i thought this was to cheap, looks like i got a good deal :D

ok i suppose i can't complain about $11.40 for SYR7 then!

tasteinmen 04.10.2008 12:54 PM

are sonic youth obsessed with french or something?

greenlight 04.10.2008 01:25 PM

yes, "bit" expensive shipping, alright

PAULYBEE2656 04.11.2008 09:35 AM

ha vinyl means more shipping costs!!!! cmon with the cd release for us lame arsed slck pretend fans!

L3BURST 04.12.2008 01:08 AM

Was "J'accuse Ted Hughes" remixed / remastered ?

Chris Lawrence 04.12.2008 02:07 AM

from what? i'm sure they didn't use the webcast audio for the EP.

L3BURST 04.12.2008 02:18 AM

I don't know if the source of the circulating recording is an audience recording or from the soundboard or whatever, but it doesn't sound bad...

Will there be a significant difference ? that's my question.

andrei 04.12.2008 03:56 AM

The circulating source it's a very, very lossy soundboard (i think it was an 32 or 64 Kbps). For sure it's the same source to be released (since it's just one soundbard :D), but transferred from the master tapes, lossless and, i think, professionally remastered.

HELL to the YES!
32 or 64 Kbps blaaaaah, another question, the "webcast" thing, which I love despite the quality, was actually recorded in full quality, I suppose, how coooool would it be to add the video to a cd reissue *wink wink* :D.

andrei 04.12.2008 04:40 AM

Yeah, it would be a nice bonus to the vinyl only release:D

Just spotted this on the Midheaven mailorder site...

***The seventh installment in Sonic Youth's series of experimental and sometimes instrumental releases on the band's own SYR label features on the A-side a previously unreleased 22-minute drone piece recorded at the All Tomorrows Parties festival in the UK in April of 2001. At ATP, the band previewed instrumental and early versions of songs from the then soon-to-be recorded NYC Ghosts & Flowers album, and this exclusive performance was the premiere of "J'Accuse Ted Hughes."
The B-side is a soundtrack-style piece recorded at the band's Murray Street Studio in 2003 for a never-realized collaboration with French clothing designer Agnes B. The 18-minute-long song was recorded by a five-piece version of the band-- the four members of Sonic Youth plus Jim O'Rourke, who also mixed "Agnes B Musique."

This LP will be soon followed by a CD-only release of the band's Another Side of Sonic Youth Roskilde Festival performance, where the five-piece Sonic Youth line-up was joined by saxophonist/reed player Mats Gustaffson and electronic noise legend Merzbow for an hour of improvised music.

WOW...

Protectmeyou 04.18.2008 10:06 PM

excellent! vinyl only. the way it should be.

Chris Lawrence 04.19.2008 12:06 AM

i really hope it's not 45 rpm.

scott v 04.19.2008 09:59 PM

Got my copy of SYR7 in the mail today from KungFu Nation, sounds great the Ted Hughes track is not lossy at least it doesn't sound so on my equipment (which is pretty decent) i remember that horrid webcast in lo-kpbs but i agree that there is some strange quality to it... but anyways the sound is great and at about the halfway point it gets really interesting and aggressive guitar action from thurston (btw i swear he's on the right channel on this recording), the b-side (agnes b) is much more mellow, i need to listen to it again because it hasn't grabbed me like side a! and indeed its 33 1/3 rpm!

Chris Lawrence 04.19.2008 10:27 PM

yay!

i'm looking forward to this, thanks for the report. (i was kidding about the possibility of them using the webcast audio, btw)

avantgarde1 04.19.2008 10:53 PM

got mine today too, didnt' get a chance to listen to it before i had to go to work though... so when i get home, imma roll one up and throw syr7 on the ol 1's & 2's! f'sho.

fluxequalsrad 04.20.2008 05:43 AM
