It is the first real noisy, loud and rocking album they've done in a long time - it is good to know they can still do it.
The only thing I'm not too keen on is the distinct lack of a bridge in a few noticeable places. It can seem to lurch from one riff to the next without much progression. There is almost too much, too different going on in some parts which makes it sound 'glued together', which I think it is. I imagine there will be a few Dirty or Goo comparisons made.
Still, I'm very pleasantly surprised, especially considering this is almost 30 years into their career. I don't think it is their best album of the past 15 years, but I am sure it is their most immediate. For that it can only be a success. Good shit.
