i'm hoping this doesn't sound like a cross between "rather ripped" and "dirty".

I'm kind of disappointed by the samples. It sounds a bit formulaic; I wanted something new this time -- even if it was regressive (eg. back to the no wave-esque crashing).

It is... I cant remember exactly what he said. But it was along the lines that he thought it was a shitty album for them. Or that he was just disappointed with the outcome.

And elsewhere he said he was putoff at the spee the recorded EJS because he didnt get to really perfect his drum parts. The finished product is like demo takes of his drum parts.

The whole album sounds like a demo! I thought that was its charm...

From what I've heard I'm really looking forward to hearing the whole thing.

No point in trying to compare it to other albums - it has a life of its own.
