i always give music a chance, even if i'm tipped off that it sucks, sometimes i get surprised, most of the time i don't.
even when i know a band sucks and they have a new album, i'm most likely to check it out and give them a second chance, even if it turns out to suck...then i stay clear from hearing it again. by the way, nice stereotyping you guys do. |
I like a ton of the bands mentioned here. I may very well be the only one here who can look past the fact that Conor Oberst is whiney and actually listen to his music. Eh, oh well.
I'll listen to anything, but country and rap usually turn me off. |

I'm not going to clap my hands or say yeah for anyone, much less a band with that in their name. |
I saw an ad for a band called "Story of the Used".
They are either a) the worst band ever b) a parody band or maybe both at once..... |

Conor is a good songwriter, I'm not much of a fan, but he's a talented guy. the worst thing about Bright Eyes are Bright eye's fans. I used to despise country music when I was younger, but then I realised alot of what I listen to and really love, is country influenced and has a tinge of country. And hey, I love Johnny Cash. And for rap, I have only two words: Public Enemy! |

I think most current bands with names that qualify as a sentence are bands I will avoid. It's pretty convenient actually. I just heard some XTC I liked recently, some early stuff. They've had lots of songs that blow hard. Peter Pumpkinhead? |

look, it's mr. holier than thou |

Yep, and a band choosing to call themselves Agoraphobic Nosebleed isn't playing any part in establishing and/or perpetuating those stereotypes, I suppose... |
See, metal bands are great at having great names that make you want to like their music. How do you separate the good from the bad in the Grind genre? By the greatness of their names.
I'm also in the non-Dino boning crowd. They're ok, but I don't really love them like so many. Then again, I'm going off Loveless these days, and I'm not too keen on Slint any more. |
Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah
Beaudoin Soundclash I don't know about Clap Your hands, because I might hear them at the festival because SY is playing there too. As for Beaudoin Soundclash, I've heard some pretty awful stuff about them. My friend that's really into My Chemical Atreyufold likes them, so I'd question listening to them |

didn't you say that the same friend is a fan of Neutral Milk Hotel? |

Good point, but out of the few hundred CD's he has, that's a single one that I like. Oh, and Black Sabbath. Other than those, I dislike everything else, so I'm willing to bet I wouldn't like these either. Our tastes don't have too many intersections. And c'mon, he said "Sonic Youth make me want to fall asleep" after hearing Swimsuit Issue... |
