In seventies Led Zeppelin, Uriah Heep and Black Sabbath were called metal. I like quite a lot also Ac/Dc and Nazareth seventies production, but I think they were called already then Hard rock. I think some critic called the sixties band Vanilla Fudge first heavy metal band and I think it´s not totally wrong, there is quite heavy stuff in their Near the beginning album (at least Shotgun and Break song is). I think in music to put the band in categories is always difficult. And I think the bands fit very well on some category are mostly boring.

Anyone else think Ill Innocence is one of the best black metal albums of all time?
You just don't hear tracks like Blind My Eyes, or Delirium Daydream on any other BM album.

must admit, I don't keep up much these days with the genre, though I often like Black Metal stuff when I hear it. I end up just watching a few Gorgoroth videos on you tube and calling it a night though.

"Ill Innocence" also features recordings of the tracks "Speed of Blood" and "At the Onset of the Age of Despair" as previewed in demo form on "The Dawn of…" The CD release of the album was met with great critical acclaim, particularly in the U.K., with the band even given the honor of cover stars in Zero Tolerance, Terrorizer and Organ magazines.

GALLHAMMER's DVD release, "Ruin of a Church", captured the band live and in scintillating form at Colchester Arts Centre, a stunning venue on the site of a deconsecrated church, on their 2007 European tour. The DVD includes additional footage from the tour, plus promo videos, gallery, and an intriguing video interview with the band. The audio mix and production was executed by Justin Broadrick (NAPALM DEATH, GODFLESH, JESU).

Pretty upsetting that they're just a drum n' bass group now. Mika provided excellent vocals live. Fuck. Hopefully their new material holds up.
