SPOILS & RELICS – CARRAGEENAN – AQUA DENTATA

SPOILS & RELICS (UK, Chocolate Monk, Mantile, )
Tape collage / noise
"Volume 4 in 'The Well Spliced Breath' series started for sound-tape collage, text-sound, radiophonic, horspiel-type muck. Spoils & Relics are one of the best UK acts doing this kind of thing just now, tuned in collage. Come take in their strange narrative."
spoilsandrelics.bandcamp.com

CARRAGEENAN (BL, Golden Lab Rds, Young Girls Rds, Tanzprocesz…)
Proto-techno / Minimal noise
"Matthieu Levet aka Carrageenan is a Parisian living in Brussels. He sets up a trestle table in the centre of his living room, loads it up with Casios and pedals, drinks (we imagine) a bucketload of pastis and then blasts this stuff out at neighbour-waking levels. Each of the five short tracks here is a splurge of electronic tonal and atonal dribble. It sputters and froths, a Satanic soothing, sitting at the pit of your stomach like battered gnocchi. Beautiful in the non-shallow way."
soundcloud.com/carrageenan/

AQUA DENTATA (UK, Feral Tapes, Echo Tango)
Drone
Aqua Dentata is a solo project of E. Nuttall, a London-based artist. Working primarily with electronic and acoustic audio devices, Nuttall creates a dense, hypnotic tapestry of drones and textures, employing a refined and considered approach within a DIY framework.

blunderbuss 12.21.2013 08:37 AM

Here's the pic with the Facebook post.

Pookie 12.21.2013 09:46 AM

Was there another band called Julie Ruin.

I know there was an album by Kathleen Hanna called Julie Ruin.

I might have to go to this.

I'm sure I said this last year but I'm definitely going to more gigs this year.

Band, solo thing, whatever.

I'm tempted to go, but I don't really like the song I just heard.

+ Damo Suzuki (ex-Can) + Eat Lights Become Lights + Parastatic + Speak Galactic + Great Pop Supplement DJs

Saturday 15 February @ The Windmill, London

As a very special one off, Klub Motorik is happy to present Damo Suzuki the Can legend playing live and backed by the Kosmische attack-ship that is Eat lights Become lights.

This will be a very special, 100% improvised performance. Two one hours sets will comprise the main body of the event and is certainly going to be an unmissable affair.

Also playing live will be Speak Galactic and Parastatic.

To be honest this looks better: http://wasistdas.co.uk/eventblog/?p=1154 but it's in Hebden Bridge.

+1 on Rhys Chatham, C Palestine and W Basinski
Also am tempted to the Demdike Stare whatsit, but of course Steven "Fucking" Severin might turn up to that - I sure look forward to avoiding him there.

blunderbuss 02.17.2014 02:02 PM

I'll be at Chatham / Palestine / Basinski too, and maybe Laraaji etc. I would have gone to Wolfgang Voigt, but it's the same night as The Julie Ruin.

Second campaign will start in a few days. I briefly thought about backing the first one, but ended up not doing so. Small chance I might still decide on going later on, but everyone in London should go for sure.

So did anyone go to this? How was it?

Toilet & Bowels 03.01.2014 09:15 PM

I went both nights, for some reason the second night was much better than the first, Hijokaidan and Junko's sets were all brilliant, Hatsune Kaidan was a pile of wank. Out of the people whose music I didn't know Yumiko Tanaka was the one I liked the most. Dora Video and Pain Jerk did a great set together, as did T.Mikawa and Tetuzi Akiyama, Toshimaru Nakamura missed the second night because I injured his right eyeball. But yeah, Junko's solo set on the first night and Hijokaidan on the second were the best. Total arse rippers.

Just literally got this e-mail from Cafe Oto:

We're thrilled to welcome Yoko Ono back to Cafe OTO for two very special performances - A trio with Thurston Moore and Steve Shelley next Saturday (22 March) and an NYC-style late night set the following Tuesday (25 March) with Nels Cline and Talvin Singh.

Obviously, this is an incredibly rare opportunity to see one of the most important figures of the twentieth century avant-garde/counter-culture in such an intimate setting.

The ticket links below will be added to our website later today, but we wanted to give email subscribers some advance warning as these are likely to go pretty fast.

I can't believe this sold out so fast. I didn't manage to get a ticket. If anyone has a spare I would pay double the price for it.

If the word "meh" didn't exist it would have to be invented in order to describe my feelings about Yoko Ono.

Er yeah so it looks like I am going to be DJing at the Carlton Melton/Sleepy Sun show, come down and laugh at my second rate song selection...
