As she shouts for help,a small child should spit on her face and curse her every word while the sound of Sunday bells deafen the loudest of birds flying past.

Пятхъдесят Шест 01.18.2007 07:17 PM

My thoughts exactly Hipster.

You can start with a local favorite.

The Indian Oven.

Oh, now I must eat.

racehorse 01.18.2007 07:18 PM

you should do chuck's after subway.

oh yeah.

Hip Priest 01.18.2007 07:18 PM

Ah, the Sunday bells. Splendid. I'm glad they are involved.

Perhaps the birds shouldn't fly past. Perhaps they should stop and peck.

Funny. They have a map, but are located in only six states. Including Hawaii.

not like it's almost the size of great britain of anything......

porkmarras 01.18.2007 07:22 PM

Disgusted.I do get upset by things like that and i happen to witness it day in day out right outside my doorstep.Sometimes i wake up to it and i just want to move out of here.

racehorse 01.18.2007 07:25 PM

yeah, i can imagine that london is probably the epicenter of all this bullshit that is going on.

compulsive diarrhea, jico 01.18.2007 07:29 PM

You dont really believe that do you? Im from an area of London that has a National Front candidate in every election, i know that my area is very racist, but Britain as a whole is nothing compared to it

Secondly, Shilpa Shetty deserves a medal for the way in which she is handling the situation. The temptation to smack Jade Goody, or one of her two thick friends, must be huge, but somehow she has managed to resist.

Thirdly, I don't understand why the remaining housemates are standing by and letting the thickies carry on as they are without saying a word.

And finally, while the prejudice in the Big Brother house is a horribly unpleasant thing to witness, it has actually sparked a debate on racism, and if that issue is getting headlines and being talked about it can only be a good thing.

who???

what???

and should i give a shit???

wax 01.18.2007 08:03 PM

is it not supposed to be a reality show?
well, its reality that people are racist.
its fucking sickening that this is such a big thing, i mean, a few dumb people saying dumb things on a dumb show.
people are completely fucked in the head. i despair, i really do.

You're not anybody in America unless you're on TV. On TV is where we learn about who we really are. Because what's the point of doing anything worthwhile if nobody's watching? And if people are watching, it makes you a better person.

atari 2600 01.18.2007 09:14 PM

It's fun to talk about the Big Brother racism scandal, right, Max?

Yeah, it sure is, Conan, it sure is.

There are also cultural differences involved too, not only in terms of cultural references but also in the way that a remark might be understood. Something that a European might say might be taken as humourous by another European but totally missed by an American, and again vice-versa. Pookie 01.19.2007 09:42 AM

OK, confession time.

Who's voted?

sonicl 01.19.2007 09:47 AM

Me. I voted for Jade to be taken from the house and poked with sticks until she shuts up, and for her then to be paraded around the streets of Southall on an open horse cart so that everyone can make piggy noises at her.

Well, that's what I tried to do, but actually all they'd let me do was vote for her to be evicted.

porkmarras 01.19.2007 09:57 AM

And the other two's heads should be stuck into a liquidizer in front of Saturday's afternoon shoppers in Hammersmith.

sonicl 01.19.2007 09:59 AM

Ahh, Chav smoothies - yummy!

In that case i'd require the crumbs of ageing and mouldy bread to be glued to her face for repeated assault.Hitchcock style.

Do you live in Putney or somewhere in West London by any chance?

you cant vote in Ireland, but i did the next best thing which is to stand in my back yard and shake my fist in a style of protest in the direction facing London and therefore the Big Brother house.

porkmarras 01.19.2007 10:15 AM

I'll be preparing a cake made of cat poo and offer it to them when they come out of the house.Either that or a pissball.

Glad to see you're taking this seriously.

And in order to ensure fairness, you've listed the number to evict Shilpa, Well done.

sonicl 01.19.2007 10:37 AM

I've listed a number, but I haven't necessarily listed the number.

eatmychild 01.19.2007 01:12 PM

I think it's stupid that so many people phone to complain about racism. If they don't like racism they should watch something else, but you can't watch a racist show and expect it to change just for you. What about the people who enjoy the 'dog' and 'eat with yo hands' comments.

In referendum, ratings control the shows, so if dipshits stopped watching, C4 would do something about it. As it is, the ratings probably increased, so C4 are hardly gonna evict their biggest attraction.

Glice 01.19.2007 03:00 PM

I'm reticent to comment on this. BB is, in many ways, the absolute apogee of everything that's awful, but my saying that only contributes to the culture of discussion which engenders the vile machinations which repulse me and make me shake catatonic with rage. However, I'm impressed with the British media, and Jade's sponsers, in some sense, for pulling out support at the merest hint of racism.

I'm sure Atari will tell you what the secret of good comedy is, my memory is frail and brittle.

porkmarras 01.19.2007 03:29 PM

If anything(and it's not often that i get genuinely angry about this),it's the media treatment of the whole thing. The tyrannical tactics of certain sections of the media in Britain is unbelievable more often than not.I still scratch my head in disbelief at how certain sections of this society truly believe what is fed to them.Sorry,i'm kinda ranting but i do feel it has an effect on samples of the population here.

SynthethicalY 01.19.2007 03:31 PM

Oh Poor british people, learn to live with it.

porkmarras 01.19.2007 03:33 PM

1)I'm not British and 2)What does that mean?

SynthethicalY 01.19.2007 03:35 PM

We know that this thing called racism will never end. It goes through cycles. Problems leading for the rise, The Big rise, The problems leading to its downfall, the downfall. And it starts all over again.

SynthethicalY 01.19.2007 03:39 PM

Well the story finally got here. It was on CNN on right now.

In a country whose populist newspapers are full of bigoted nonsense about immigrants and foreigners, I found it reassuring that society is still prepared to denounce this kind of thing, and demand an end to it.

It's not a racist show; it's a show with some racists in.

What about them? They shouldn't enjoy those comments. They shouldn't endorse bullying or racism.

Very true. The programme makers will ultimately gain from the whole sad episode, because the publicity will mean more attention for the next series.

porkmarras 01.19.2007 03:52 PM

It is very true that a large amount of people say things but don't know what they are talking about and say them on the spur of the moment. My main concern is in the media highlighting them and manipulating them so that they become the can of worms that generally puts all parties concerned into a bad mood and in need for more confrontations. This goes on and on and it creates a climate of distrust amongst people from different communities that is only and truly dealt with in reality with varying degrees of outcome.

Hip Priest 01.19.2007 03:57 PM

I agree wholeheartedly. I think I said last night I think its a shame that BB didn't try to show the bullies what they were doing and give them the chance to change. We can now ensure that the lives of those people will be made very hard when that was perhaps not neccessary. Allowing it to drag on unnattended because it was 'good television' was very wrong.

Norma J 01.19.2007 03:59 PM

I saw it on the news here. I thought that BB would have called the dicks into the 'diary room' and told them that racism is not allowed. Considering that is one of the rules of the house, no?

They did do that eventually, but WAY too late, and only after all the media attention.
