It was very probably 'Bull In The Heather'.. I think I'd heard that before I got 'Experimental Jet Set..' out of the local library. On tape.
I remember sitting on a wooden chair in the garden that summer listening to that tape a lot.. and reading library books.. and pretending it was possible for me to tan. |

it was pretty often on mtv here (back then there was just one mtv europe for the entire continent)... just like sugar kane. after bull in the heather and superstar i've rarely ever seen any of their newer videos on mtv. just sunday one or two times. |
I can't really remember because I think I had heard Drunken Butterfly and Bull in the Heather before, but didn't pay much attention.
The first one I really got into was Teenage Riot. The first one that made me obsessed was I'm Insane. |
Teenage Riot at the Kuyahoga Music fetival in Cleveland. I'm somewhat of a new fan. Actually, I didn't really enjoy them that much (looking back, I blame being too far back to fully enjoy the experience). But the second time I saw them in Columbus I was front row. Holy hell. I become an instant fan.
|
The first song I heard from them was tunic. I don't know why that got me hooked, because it's not a great song, but it had a strange feel to it and it intruiged me. Then I got " Goo " and it was very nice.

yeah, my friend wanted to know who sonic youth was, let him listen he was pretty much repulsed, Sonic youth definatly grows on you. Although I never thought any song was that bad. |
Death Valley 69, via my obsession with Lydia Lunch
|
I first listened to Bull in the Heather, and I just loved the experimental nature of it, so I had to check out more. The next song, Sympathy for the Strawberry, just about did it: I was in love with SY ever since.
|
i'm not sure if it was Catholic Block or She is not alone
|
It was either Sugar Cane or 100% I don't remember which I heard first
|
100%, i believe. i checked out dirty deluxe from the library one summer... i listened to it all in one go, agape, with no idea what was even going on between my headphones.
|
"Dirty Boots" via 120 Minutes
|
Teen Age Riot when I listened to DDN on CD for the first time. It would have been in late October, early November. I had read/heard several good things about the album and I needed a change from my listening habits at the time which was a lot of Doors and Pixies

I would bet that it was almost the same with me...strange |
It's hard to say, because I heard a lot of their stuff before I ever really got into them, so I wasn't paying attention to what songs were playing.
The first song that really caught my attention though was schizophrenia, and it's all history from there. |

I was 15 and I first listened to schizophrenia. I never realized that I actually was listening to SY till a couple of year later. Anyway, that song changed my conception of how rock songs must be written and listened. Bye. |
