That does have a striking resemblence to Ed's artwork. But the original artist did a great job.
Have you ever heard of a skate shop called, PUSH?
I only ask 'cuz I went down to Asheville to see the Dino Jr. gig, & I dropped by the shop, & they had a unique set-up where it was an art gallery, & a skate shop. Mostly artwork from an art group called, Segment 16.
Oh, & while I was in there, the skate video that was playing at the time was playing SY's "Superstar" cover.

I never could get the hang of Smith grinds, or feebles for that matter.
I don't know why.

Trasher02 04.12.2006 06:42 AM

fs smiths are super easy and super fun. just lock in and hang over. haha check out tricktips on www.skateboarding.com they really help.

marleypumpkin 04.12.2006 06:53 AM

The last time I learned a trick from something other than myself was in a 411 video. I forgot who it was, but they landed a double kickflip sex-change over a bank. Right then I said to myself, I have to learn that trick. Never learned the double flip part, but kickflip sex-change is one of my favorite tricks to land. Thanks for the link.

Trasher02 04.12.2006 07:04 AM

haha i always thought it was a funny trick. i never thought it was cool or that it looked gnarly it just came in handy when you're playing skate.

marleypumpkin 04.12.2006 07:07 AM

I agree it looks silly on flat-ground, but over a bank or some stairs, it looks pretty damn tight.
I think it's all in the height that you get from the ollie, I guess.

Trasher02 04.12.2006 07:10 AM

fs flips are the shiznit.
Too bad all the andrew reynolds wanna be's do it all the time.
i can only hit it on flat-ground though, stairs and gaps are a little too hard

marleypumpkin 04.12.2006 07:16 AM

Yeah, I hate how certain tricks become trendy.
I agree, there are only certain tricks that I can do down a stair case. & a limited # of stairs that I can land tricks off of.

Trasher02 04.12.2006 07:19 AM

i'd like to try bigger stair sets. Unfortunatly we don't have that much spots in our town. Any way i'm off to go skating right now... i'll be sure to land a sick trick for u.

marleypumpkin 04.12.2006 07:22 AM

Thanks. Make sure to tell me what you land. & for god's sake, try to get a photo of it.
Trust me, you probably have more spots where you live than in this shitty ass redneck town. No spots anywhere.

Inhuman 04.12.2006 07:46 AM

I used to skateboard quite a bit, but my deck sucked and after a while I stopped. I'd like to resume, but I really don't have the money for a new deck. It was neat though, a few months ago I waked into a skate shop and the dude at the counter and I had a long talk about Sonic Youth (I had my take a sip shirt on).

marleypumpkin 04.12.2006 07:57 AM

Inhuman:

Yeah, but what kind of skate shop was it? Was it like PUSH w/ an art gallery & cool little artifacts like that? I just thought the PUSH skate shop was fucking great. I just love unique skate shops like that.

Pluto's for life!

haha naw, it was just a small Fokus shop. Is the Sonic Youth skateboard any good?

marleypumpkin 04.12.2006 08:05 AM

I don't know. I haven't tried it out, yet. I'm sure Ed has tried it out.

probably. But i'd would be a waste if you would skate the graphic off. if i'd buy one i'd hang it one my bedroomwall or something.

marleypumpkin 04.13.2006 09:29 AM

Or just try not to do too many boardslides. It probably has the same paint coating as most brand name baords have. You know what I'm talking about, right. When you do baordslidees & you can see marks, but it doesn't ware down the graphics on the baord. If that made any sense.

Trasher02 04.13.2006 10:02 AM

i'll probably just keep the board and try to get it autographed by Pro's (especially ED) and sy.

Dirty Boots (i don't know who skated on it though) in the Emerica - yellow film( very old one)

marleypumpkin 04.13.2006 10:12 AM

We should start a thread for Ed T's artwork. I think people who don't skate would be impressed by it. He's a very artistic person.
& not to mention, a huge SY fan.

yeah everything he does is amazing.

marleypumpkin 04.13.2006 10:44 AM

I really like Ed's photography. But his artwork is just as good.
So are you w/ me? Should we start the Ed T thread?

John Violence 04.15.2006 08:37 PM

I did a switch boardslide down a seven stair rail today. Im pretty happy about that. Hey did anybody get the new Thrasher? A kid named Matt Brown is in the photografiti section kickfliping a ten stair. He lives a block away from me.

marleypumpkin 04.15.2006 08:47 PM

Congrats on the switch boardslide. I never could get the hang of hand-rails.

John Violence 04.15.2006 08:52 PM

Honestly i'm not good at handrails. The rail was pretty low and I went with some of my friends who are complete handrail killers. I got switch board but one of my friends did overcrook, kickflip boardslide, and kickflip noseslide on it! He would of done more but he hurt his knee on a nollie lipslide.

marleypumpkin 04.15.2006 09:51 PM

Motherfuck, those are some talented skaters. What team & skate shop do they ride for?

John Violence 04.16.2006 03:00 AM

They don't ride for anything. I live in a small area but there are some pretty good skaters. There is this one guy named Greg who should seriously be Am. There is this ledge down a dirt gap that a pro for Stereo does a kickflip five O on and this Greg guy has done Switch tailslide 270 out on it. He also almost landed a switch ollie down a 17! No Joke.

marleypumpkin 04.16.2006 05:38 AM

Man, you guys need to work on a video to send to companies & skate shops.
Do any of you have a video or a photo camera?
I myself have been into skate photography for a long time. It is a very interesting art form. Anyway, start working on a video.

well you kicked my ass i can tell you that.
Tell yr buds to send a sponsor-me video to emerica.
every month emerica posts a sponsor me vid on their website and the winner gets free shoes, and lately some real suckiy skaters get the prize with stupid swith 180 ollies down a frikkin 4 set:p!!!

so let yr buds send them a vid i'm pretty sure they'll make it, maybe even flow!

marleypumpkin 04.16.2006 06:19 AM

God, I love EMERICA. Is there any wonder why I do, I don't think so. ^^^

Trasher02 04.16.2006 06:47 AM

LOL
Vans is pretty great too. and fallen has some nice shoes but all the other brands are bullshit

marleypumpkin 04.16.2006 07:10 AM

Yeah, it's like shoe companies are trying to come up w/ these rediculous shoe designs. I mean comfort is one thing, but looks are another, & only EMERICA has great comfort, & great looks to their shoes.

John Violence 04.16.2006 02:51 PM

Thanks for the info Thrasher. Marleypumpkin, I am actually filming for my third video. I just make them for fun but I was thinking about sending one of my parts to Krooked skateboards just for shits. Yeah I have a pretty diverse group of friends. I just met this guy that we call 90s Steve because his two main tricks are late shove it and Pressure Flip. He has super good style.

marleypumpkin 04.16.2006 04:38 PM

Well, we wish you all the best out there, skating, & filming.
& in the end, isn't that what it's really all about?

yodejelle 04.16.2006 06:39 PM

skating is all about fun!
and john , good luck with ur 3'd video!
post in here when its done?:p

John Violence 04.16.2006 06:42 PM

HaydenAsche 04.16.2006 06:44 PM

yodejelle 04.16.2006 06:44 PM

HaydenAsche 04.16.2006 06:46 PM
