4th oif july is my fave holiday

Savage Clone 10.27.2007 03:13 PM

Cannot STAND the 4th of July.
Flag waving, drunken morons making noise and exploding things all night long and usually several days before and after.
It's total amateur night, but unlike the other amateur nights (New Year's Eve, St Patrick's Day, etc), this one comes with explosives.
I like blowing stuff up and everything, but the 4th of July is like a fucking redneck tailgaiting scene that goes on and on and on.

Anngella 10.27.2007 03:31 PM

Agreed. Patriotism is the most annoying thing ever.

nicfit 10.27.2007 06:09 PM

no, man. my friends have a cabin outside of the city, blowing shit up and shooting guns in the woods and having a fire and getting shitfaced is the greatest thing ever.

The privacy of a rural cabin means you can do whatever you want.
There is no way these antics can be visible or audible to me in that removed setting, so go ahead and combine alcohol and firearms all you like.
It also means you don't have to see and goddamned fucking parades.

sarramkrop 10.27.2007 08:01 PM

I don't care about it.

haha i never once considered that booze + firearms isn;t too good of an idea

gmku 10.27.2007 09:14 PM

In Tennessee once, we stayed in a motel right next door to a drive-thru store that sold beer and fireworks. You can imagine the lovely night's sleep we had.

Cantankerous 10.27.2007 09:59 PM

a couple years ago i went to this huge carnival with my friend on the 4th of july. white trash dominated.

gmku 10.27.2007 10:11 PM

White trash like their fourth of July. They also like state fairs.

pbradley 10.27.2007 10:31 PM

I'm going to a halloween party in a little while. I'm going as a homeless guy because a few of my clothes are natural homelessy and I'm too busy/poor to shell out cash for some pre-fabricated thing.

it would be bad if i had to live year long surrounded by white trash, but i would like to experience 4th of july once and never bother again.

Yes, I have seen them. What a bunch of motherfucking idiots they are. I give them dirty looks and laugh every time I see them.

(most girls I know love halloween, which I think is partly an extension of how most girls are in "costume" all day every day anyway, what with make-up and outfits and hair etc.)

I love the feeling of it.
Little kiddies all dressed up (I saw two little kids dressed as punks last year and wanted to steal them and feed them candy all night long)
Weird decorations.

Rob Instigator 10.29.2007 02:48 PM

I love children dressed up. Halloween is a holiday for children, for helping them in some way deal with deatha nd fear and the unknown.
for adults it is just another reason to pretend to be children and get drunk.

Oh, you mean like the 4th of July?

Rob Instigator 10.29.2007 02:59 PM

the 4th of july is a celebration of the independence of the USA from the British crown, of our sovereignty as a state, of our right to self-determination. It celebrates everything that is good about the United States. In that, it is my favorite holiday.

next 4th of july gather your friends and family as I do every year and read them the declaration of Independence, and ask them to spend at least a few minutes thinking about what it means.

halloween does not compare.

Rob Instigator 10.29.2007 03:00 PM

and I think you are making the mistake of confusing how people celebrate a holiday with the holiday's actual meaning.

We both are, apparently.

Rob Instigator 10.29.2007 03:14 PM

in what way? 4th of July is independence Day, nothing more nothing less.

halloween is derived from a pagan celebration of life and death, and those that have departed.

Yeah, well the 4th of July turning into what is largely a redneck beer blast is just as removed as little kids asking for candy and hot girls in sexy outfits.

i'll save my loathing for V'day. however, Holloween is just a reminder that two suck-ass-depressing holidays are on the way. spending Halloween alone is almost worse than Christmas alone. at least after X-mas, you're done...until New Year's- the worst holiday of all time.

Ah yeah I heard about that on the news. There weren't any riots this year, which is good.
