The Belgians are great. Great chocolates and they never try and big up their country the way the Dutch always seem to.

Trasher02 07.02.2008 07:01 PM

Well ofcourse belgians are great, The Kids aren't.

demonrail666 07.02.2008 07:02 PM

London Calling is a great Rock n Roll album that's only really considered punk because of who made it. Sandanista even more so. That's about as Punk as a basket full of puppies. Underrated as fuck, too.

You must spread more free tokens for Febo (Dutch food vending machines emporium) before being run over by a tram in front of Demonrail again.

When it comes to the Kids, Chris Langham likes to be in The Thick Of It.

The standard comment about Sandinista is that it's patchy, should've been a single album etc. And this really winds me up something rotten because I love it from beginning to end.

demonrail666 07.02.2008 07:05 PM

I've never heard them, but will make it a point to give them a go.

Pookie 07.02.2008 07:06 PM

Bearing in mind I can't watch youtube, explain in words.

Yeah that song is alright, I'm just saying that it's just wrong to see some fat old bald guy singing about fascist cops. It doesn't come off you know? ... Am I making any sense? I had a wild party last night and I haven''t been able to think straight all day...

Quite. i can see why the patchy comment is made, but think people miss use it in this case, when what they maybe should be saying is that it goes all over the place (in a good way, in my opinion). My favourite album of theirs in lots of ways. Definitely the one I listen to the most, anyway.

Toilet & Bowels 07.02.2008 07:09 PM

finding all those clips made the wax in my ears double in both volume and viscosity.

MellySingsDoom 07.02.2008 07:09 PM

Here be some footage of The Kids:

Is that good or bad?

Everyneurotic 07.02.2008 07:11 PM

london calling should have been a single disc album.

MellySingsDoom 07.02.2008 07:12 PM

One of my fave punk moments ever (on the audio front, at least):

"There will be no next time" was their best song in my opinion.

seeing their faces ruined it

demonrail666 07.02.2008 07:17 PM

Yeah, Ferris Buellers Day Off style punks. Not good! Great song though.

Isn't it frustrating when you know a band is bad, but people don't realise it? It's the same for me with the Stooges. Now there's stodge.

Of course, it's you that's wrong in this case.

Toilet & Bowels 07.02.2008 07:28 PM

ok, well not including white riot, explain how they aren't stodgy.

Pookie 07.02.2008 07:39 PM

It's not up to me to explain. You're the accuser.

I accept that there are fools who don't like them, I just don't see the stodgy factor.

demonrail666 07.02.2008 07:41 PM

I think The Clash had stodgy politics (well Strummer, anyway) and I'm not a fan of the production on their first album, but I wouldn't say they were musically stodgy at all. Very tight, very direct. The opposite of stodgy in my book. Saying that, my favourite album of theirs, Sandanista, could reasonably be described as being a bit stodgy, but only in the same way that, say, Prince's Sign o' the Times might be described as such.

Pookie 07.02.2008 07:44 PM

That's what I should've said. No stodge. Tight and direct. Very good you neg repping bastard (I haven't forgotten).

Toilet & Bowels 07.02.2008 07:45 PM

gobshite dire straights is what they are

Pookie 07.02.2008 07:46 PM

Weirdo.

demonrail666 07.02.2008 07:47 PM

Nor have I stopped scratching since you got unreasonable with that spider picture. You are, I believe, the only person I've ever neg-repped since being here.

Pookie 07.02.2008 07:49 PM

I don't know what to say.

I use to get neg rep all the time. I had a tear when I saw that little red box. Reminded me of darker times.

Permit me to be a bit of a prat here, and say that the first Dire Straits album isn't that bad at all. Later efforts are, of course, beyond the pale, but that first album. Well, it's alright really.

I'm neg repped constantly. Seriously. If I had any kind of self-respect I'd stop coming here altogether. But I don't, so here I am. Again. Personally I don't like neg-repping people. But I dunno, spiders. That's just a bit much in my book.

Pookie 07.02.2008 07:53 PM

Who neg reps you?

I can't imagine anybody being offended by anything you say.

Bored witless yes, offended no.

Pookie 07.02.2008 07:54 PM

That was a joke incidentally. Just in case your neg repping finger is twitching.

demonrail666 07.02.2008 07:55 PM

I won't say who. But I will say that, if anything, they're even more boring than I am. which should narrow things down considerably.
