I think this thread has proved you can't beat wearing jeans.

lol at pointing out that there's one difference, to prove me wrong when i said almost identical.

the dickies name and logo are popular and worn with pride all around america

carhartt is way too fucking expensive, i feel like i'm going to my worksites wearing chanel when i buy the hartt

Maybe you just need different jeans. They make some really good ones these days.

btw if anyone's interested I have a pair of used Levis 501 shrink to fit in 34 x 36 that I'm willing to sell for cheap. Also some 514s in predistressed washes. Very good condition, they're just not my style anymore.

Satan 12.12.2009 12:00 PM

theres no substitute for jeans if you ask me. i wear the same levis every single day. i feel like an asshole if i wear any other kind of pants

gmku 12.12.2009 12:08 PM

Jeans are good especially if you have good genes.

pajama pants are great for the indoor life. flannel pajamas in winter. in summer, one can walk around naked.

otherwise, i've pared down my wardrobe to 2 pairs of jeans (well, things to cover my top too), one of them is in the last stages of disintegration and might need replacement or some good patches.

i try to have only the clothes i need to live for a week. then it's time to do the wash. pack light.

i have considered coveralls for work in the past, but the polyester gives me an icky feeling. perhaps i'll try 100% cotton scrubs. it's nice to, ha, hang loose.

but for the outside world it's jeans. though i keep a suit on a hanger for the occasional funeral/ wedding/ court appearance.

less = more

gmku 12.12.2009 12:37 PM

Any advice on packing light? I have to figure out clothes for a week in portland but I don't want to fly with more than one light carry on bag.

travel underwear, the pants you're wearing, the pair of shoes you're wearing. if you need anything extra, buy it there. you know that saying-- pack half the things you think you'll need, bring double the cash you think you'll need.

money wads are relatively light & pack a lot of punch.

i do always take some kind of lounging clothes on the road though-- good for bedroom action.

gmku 12.12.2009 12:47 PM

good advice but I won't have a lot of spending cash, esp not for clothes. but I figure I can wash stuff there. & I have bedroom/lounge wear already there.

thinking about your situation, you should probably have your portland wardrobe in place-- at least some toiletries & your bedroom gear. and piss in every corner of the apartment, to mark your territory.

i keep a bunch of old clothes in the mountain hovel so i never need to bring clothes there. it has books, music, clothes, some canned food, it's ready to inhabit. for you it's probably more of a boudoir situation, so think of what & that.

Ha ha. Yes, well, I do have the basics there re toiletries and bedroom gear. Also about half my books. When I leave Asheville, I'm giving away all the furniture I have here, including TV. The biggest problem will be moving my records and stereo.

On the other hand, we've also been talking of late about mrs gmku moving here instead of me there.
