... if you're looking for a very particular take on techno/dance/electronic music. It's a good list but very specific and hardly represents the techno/dance axis.

PAULYBEE2656 05.03.2009 10:32 AM

anything ive heard of dubstep is real shitty almost chart friendly.....
leigon of two are much harsher also live drumming and so forth...

i mean that burial album is absolutely awful...its just like craig david or something...... anyhoo.......

demonrail666 05.03.2009 10:39 AM

I quite liked dubstep for a while, but it soon became clear that it'd sort of exhausted its creative potential after about six records.

i thought the live drumming was the biggest difference, made it less predictable, more going on and no cheesy samples. and the bass isn't as exagerrated, but it's 140 bpm, half stepped drums+sub bass... the last 2 songs don't sound much like dubstep but i would actually say the 1st one(andnowwewait demo) actually is dubstep

i wouldn't say any dubstep are exactly like their stuff, but i think if you mixed it with dark older stuff nobody would think "hey this isn't dubstep"
not dead on but not miles off

that's the closest stuff i cold think of offhand and not really that close, but i'm not so into darker production so i'm not an expert by any means

The only good track I've heard from the guy is "Loose Synths" off of Diary of an Afro Warrior, everything else is meh.

I recommend Carl Cox's mix CD F.A.C.T. It's dancable hard-techno, has some AMAZING songs it, and is interesting enough to listen to on headphones: even a philistine such as myself can appreciate how well it's mixed.

static-harmony 05.06.2009 02:04 AM

Chromeo is another one you should check them out.
