I like Kool Thing, but to say their earlier work is bad , that is just wrong. I think their earlier work is fucking awesome.

I get kind of sick of them always playing it live.

Anyways, to say the early stuff is more dispensable isn't just wrong. It isn't right.

No Wave SY is the kind of SY that would kick the shit out of the new 'chilled' SY.

I really have to dissagree with you. I like the song, I really do. It's a cool song froma acool album, but I hardly feel that it is the quintessential SY song. There are many other songs that represent the band much more accurately than Kool Thing.

Haha...I'm not a troll, just an honest person who loves that chilled, adult-sounding Sonic Youth more than the noisy adolescent stuff.

From the "rather ripped" pitchfork review...

"The other most striking aspect of the album is that there are more Kim Gordon tracks than on most recent outings. She makes good use of the face time, turning in her best work since "Kissibility" and "Kool Thing". "

Agreed. The album deserves a higher rating, though. I could swear I just saw them raise the rating though--I thought it was 7, now it's 7.5.
