Xiu Xiu - Hives Hives
Xiu Xiu - Suha |
I can't remember listening to a song for the first time and crying spontaneously. But, because of whatever else was going on in my life at the moment I do remember crying to these:
Sonic Youth - Hoarfrost Wilco - Muzzle of Bees Yo La Tengo - Night Falls On Hoboken Sonic Youth - Winner's Blues Stereolab - UHF/MFP |
I once cried to "Pale blue eyes". But then again who hasn't?
|
I'm far more likely to cry at an uplifting song than i am a sad one.
this has me in tears almost immediately, for much the same reason as happens with 'Mind Games': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFQcOrqQLN8 For |

Exactly, me neither. I'm not saying it isn't sad, but I tend to be quite a depressive person anyway, and so I find expressions of sheer joy actually more emotionally overwhelming.
I can (and have) wept buckets to this, for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bcf5kzBCdy4 |

Not even those times you've been slicing onions while listening to it? |
Ed Kuepper - Messin' Pt II (its prequel Messin' With the Kid by The Saints is pretty tear worthy as well)
Haunted Henschel - Deep Inside Her Bathrooms |
van morrison-astral weeks, veedon fleece, moondance
van the man is the soundtrack to my teenage depressed days. when i was 17 i got super depressed (like most teenagers) and seriously hated everything and wanted to swallow a fith of bourbon and jump off a brigge. every day after id get back from hanging with my friends and listening to punk, metal, and extreme/experimental stuff id totally let my guard down and put on van, drink alone, and sometimes, cry. of course now i do this when i just listen to him happily (brings back memories). |

That's interesting because I was going through a period of quite bad depression around the same time that you mention and would listen to Veedon Fleece a hell of a lot. I never really thought about it as a sad album, but I did become quite obsessed with it. 'Linden Arden Stole the Highlights' is still one of my favourite songs of all times. |
The Beatles "In My Life"
|
Marquee Moon always gets me a bit watery eyed.
Also Cosmic Dancer by T. Rex. |
Not sad, just really really pretty
Alan Braxe - In love with you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVqOKhmTc7w |
