She took inspiration from the opera , not the contrary of course.

batreleaser 07.04.2008 09:30 AM

Need New Body - I bought their vinyl, thinking it was a no neck blues band (it had the stenciled initials NNB on the cover) but it turned out to be need new body, who I had heard a bit on my space. Great stuff! I liek it a lot

Xiu Xiu- for the past 6 months I cannot get enough xiu xiu. I have been collecting all their output on vinyl. they have cool vinyl. I have CD's as well.

Yeah, Need New Body are great but with a pretty sketchy recorded output. Live they are fantastic though.

Bathory

atsonicpark 07.05.2008 07:12 AM

My favorite need new body song is that "meets, hits it off, hangs out, makes friends... and is never seen again." song.

Sorry for being be the ever so annoying cunt again here, but Diamanda Galas DIDN'T just take inspiration from opera, she was classically trained as a pianist and a singer, the operatic style being one of them. To relegate all her records to a corner cluttered by the work of an opera singer obsessed with semi-satanic, end of the world themes seems to me that you haven't really listened to many of them to start with. The fact that you don't like what she does is fine and dandy, at least try to get a modicum of knowledge on the subject you're passing opinions on.

gualbert 07.07.2008 02:08 PM

I only know one of her record actually ( I think it's Plague mass ).
Its all a capella.

Thank you for being more accurate than me about her!

Yet , if people had to know everything that a band has released to be able to talk about it , there would be very few discussion on music here , probably none about Sonic Youth.
