Oh and as for Heaven's Gate, no one will know if what they believed in to be the after life was true, unless of course, there actually is an after life where you can ponder over your beliefs you held while you were alive.

But given that I am a hardcore atheist, I'm taking the "There is no afterlife" stance on this matter.

i myself would never be brave enough to kill myself, needless to say i wouldn't do it to find out if i would be beamed up into space, although i must say that would be pretty cool.

The thing that really disturbed me about Jonestown was the fact that the children were forced to drink poisoned Kool Aid, and they had no idea what was going on... And there was this audio tape where Jim Jones is speaking, telling the parents how to deal with it and stuff, and there's kids crying and screaming in the background. It's seriously fucked up stuff.

cult members are some of the most fucked up people ever to walk the planet. a long time ago i read in some magazine, spin or rolling stone or something, about this teenage-holy-war-crusade-religious-cult thing and it was absolutely insane (i probably have this article somewhere, i'll post it if i can find it). what it comes down to is that these teenage kids have basically been totally brainwashed...

You know what? I thought UFOs etc was a bunch of crock. But one day I was standing at the door looking through the screen, just staring out to the thick grey clouds in the sky, but it wasn't so normal. no. the clouds were like an inversed mushroom cloud. it was late afternoon, red orange sky with alot of grey thrown in. and as I was staring at the cloud for no particular reason, this thing, a little light hovering thing came out of the big hole in the clouds and it hovered for a second and then shot off ito the sky again, but this time not through the hole. and it didn't look to unlike the light in your picture, except there was a huge hole in the clouds.

Huh. The interesting thing for me about the picture is I didn't notice the unidentified flying thing in it until I looked at it later. I've had a pretty weird ufo sighting too, but it wan't much like this. It was more like something out of Star Wars visually, and it was in the Nisqually area outside Olympia in Washington state, which isn't too far from Mt. Rainier where some of the first ever ufos were seen in 1947.

Personally, I tend to think most of these things are experimental military craft more likely than extra-terrestrial. The stealth fighter sure must have set off innumerable ufo sightings when it was top secret, and it was in my area where they were testing it.

But then you're in Australia, so U.S. military explanations are harder to make work. And I don't think you're a former acid head like me either...

Yes, I believe in the military aircraft theory as well. We have the technology (apparently).
