Having heard a couple tracks at this point, I'd like to change my position from "cautiously optimistic" to officially goddamn psyched. shoukd be a hell of an album.

yeah I've heard the same re: suishou no fune, have been playing a lot of gigs in and around japan of late so hoping to catch them when I'm over there, the live LP on PSF last year was excellent. acid guru pond should also be a fucking blast.

guest 03.16.2016 07:41 PM

oh and the new babyfather record is going to be fucking awesome

Severian 03.18.2016 10:04 AM

My record store-owning friend, who I used to do some work for, mailed me a promo of the new Moderat album, III, so I got to listen to it in its entirety yesterday.

So, if ther are any fans of Modeselektor or Apparat who haven't experienced the awesomeness of hybrid group Moderat before, now's as good a time as any to dig in. I prefer Moderat to both of the original projects that spawned it.

Damn good album.. Out officially April 1 on Monkeytown and Rough Trade.

Listen to lead single "Reminder" on YouTube

^ Just gave something called HappyBirthday a ten second chance.

Not that I think you'll care, or should care, but you might be amused to know that everytime I check out one of your suggestions and hear a computer make a bliping noise or a drone or a thudding beat, I bail. You should put an asterisk next to that crap every time from now on solely for my benefit. Thanks in advance.

Severian 03.18.2016 10:29 AM

Oh hey, the new Underworld is pretty goddamn awesome so far too. Haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but I think Barbara Barbara, We Face a Shining Future is going to be one of the must-hear electronic albums of 2016.

Do dislike electronic music and only pay attention to my electronic music recommendations? 'Cause if so.... y'know... you should probably do things differently. Like. Duh.

evollove 03.18.2016 10:38 AM

I'm saying that if there's no indication it's electronic music I get sucked in. Be a flattered I even make the effort.

Skating Polly - The Big Fit

I know a few of you had talked about seeing them opening for Babes In Toyland over there in England.

And this isn't just from feeling a need to pimp out local Oklahomans (although they have now moved up to the Pacific Northwest). I am genuinely excited to hear this full album. Everything they have pre-released from it is pretty top-notch. I think they are showing a nice development and maturity in these tracks while not losing the youthfulness that keeps them so appealing.
